Financial Accountant, Investment Banking - KCB Capital

Reporting to the Head, Investment Banking, the person in this position will be responsible for preparation of management and financial reports, enhance internal controls whilst ensuring compliance with the IFRS, Taxation Act and regulatory guidelines as outlined by Capital Markets Authority.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this position will be;
  • Prepare the monthly financial performance and the accompanying analysis for the Investment Banking Business.
  • Prepare the quarterly financial reports for consolidation by the Group ensuring they comply with the relevant regulations and in accordance to the Group timelines.
  • Coordinate the Strategic plans and annual plans for the business in liaison with the Head, Investment Banking.
  • Coordinate audits by internal auditors, external auditors, Capital Markets Authority inspectors, and KRA officials. To follow up all issues raised in audits and inspections reports and resolve them
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/IAS, Companies Act, Taxation Act and CMA guidelines.
  • Ensure all regulatory returns and any other information requested by the regulator is correctly compiled and submitted on time.
  • Ensure integrity of the general ledger through daily review and analysis and ensure that all Bank accounts and the relevant suspense are reconciled periodically.
  • To Validate and approve all payments related to the business in line with the laid down authorization limits and timings.
  • Ensure Continuous monitoring and recovery of current brokerage debtors.
  • Ensuring that there are adequate internal control procedures to minimize loss of income or misuse of company assets, and that all the set procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage the completion of all regular daily, weekly, monthly reporting with all associated commentaries including; month end actuals and forecasts/plan, for multiple key stakeholders (incl. Exec Committee, Board, custodians, Fund managers, Regulators; CBK,CMA) Ensure there is integrity of the data and consistency of format prior to delivery to stakeholders.
The Person:

In order to be considered for the above position all applicants should have the following:-
  • University Degree in a business related field from a recognized university. A Masters in any relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • The person must be a qualified accountant i.e. must be CPA (K), ACCA Fellow or a CFA Fellow.
  • At least 4 years management experience in a busy Investment Banking/ Brokerage environment, 3 of which should be in Financial and Management reporting.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in Oracle Financials.
  • Sound knowledge of CMA guidelines and Kenyan Tax laws.
  • Should have a thorough knowledge of Investment Banking industry practice, products and services.
  • Understanding of IFRS/IAS and accounting principles.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in office automation tools.

Senior Manager, Resourcing

The Position: Reporting to the Head of Resourcing, the position is responsible for managing and executing manpower plans (balance line manager employment needs with supply), recruitment and selection (line manager need assessment, candidate Identification, preliminary screening, interviewing and selection) in liaison with the HR Business Partner(s) and or Senior HR Advisor(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates (with) persons (HR Business Partners /Senior Advisors, other Resourcing Managers, line interviewers, candidates) involved in the resource planning and or recruitment and selection processes.
  • Develop and execute annual manpower, recruitment and selection plans and budgets relating to HR area.
  • Support line management / HR Business Partners/ Senior HR Advisors with the job analysis process (preparation of assessment tools, determination of ranking methods, definitions of specialized experience and selective placement factors that will increase the likelihood that qualification expectations will be responsibly met)
  • Prepare and document evaluation criteria, assessments and questionnaires.
  • Prepare and post Job Announcements, determine eligibility and minimum qualifications of applicants based on defined competencies and criteria.
  • Screen, shortlist, rate and rank qualified applicants in accordance with criteria and applicable policy requirements and ranking method agreed upon for the vacancy.
  • Conduct and manage job interviews in line with applicable policy requirements.
  • Respond to line management and applicant inquiries during the recruitment process.
  • Maintain relationships with INTERNAL / EXTERNAL customers/stakeholders/supplies relating to own HR Area: Line Managers, Job Candidates/ Applicants Recruitment Agencies and Consultants, Head-hunters, and Heads of Departments.
  • Maintain data, records and statistics relating to own HR area: Job Descriptions, Job Advertisements, Interview documents, candidate long and short lists, criteria notes and approvals, final selection recommendation documents, recruitment turnaround time.
The Person:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a HR Management OR a Business Related Field from a University recognized by Commission for University Education.
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 6 Years’ experience in Resourcing covering the following areas:
  1. Manpower Planning,
  2. Recruitment and Selection
  3. Development and implementation of resourcing tools, processes and methods
  4. Job Evaluation
  5. Relationship Management
  6. Project Management
  • Knowledge of Labour and Employment Laws and HR Regulatory Guidelines
  • Experience in management of a team.

Auditors

Location: Kenya
 
The Position: Reporting to Audit Manager, the job holder will be required to  provide independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes to add value and improve organization’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute in conducting risk assessment for assigned audit assignments
  • Perform audit procedures to give assurance on effectiveness and efficiency of control environment, and compliance to KCB Group policies and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Prudential guidelines.
  • Review and evaluate the systems of internal controls and assess their adequacy and effectiveness in management of risks
  • Documents the results of audit work in accordance with internal audit guidelines and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
  • Review and evaluate the system of internal controls and assess their adequacy and effectiveness and propose value adding recommendations for improvements.
  • Document findings and communications on the results of work performed, for review by the Audit manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Person:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business Related field from a university recognized by Commission for University Education.
  • Must Possess CPA/ACCA, ACI and CIA/CISA/ACIB, qualification
  • Master degree  is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in the use of audit management software e.g. TeamMate
  • A minimum 6 Years’ experience covering 2 years in Internal Audit and 4 years in External Audit or General Banking.
  • Implementing / managing a process framework and governance on enterprise level
