Job Vacancies: Makueni County Public Service Board is a body
corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose
mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County
Public Service.
1. Webmaster
Ref: MCPSB/01
Duties and Responsibilities
- Designing a functional and appealing county
website.
- Hosting & Server maintenance including;
choosing a secure web server, creating emergency backup procedures to
ensure that the county website is always running.
- Website maintenance including; updating
content, making sure that the website’s code is compatible with various
browsers, fixing broken links and images, adding page animations, new
pictures, fresh content, new events and event registration, and product
updates among others.
- Securing the website from intrusion; hackers
and spammers
- Managing the integrated e-mail system
- Troubleshooting the website to keep the
website running seamlessly by constantly testing the site for
functionality, ease of use and load time and ensure that content on the
site is easily understandable for the target audience.
- Coding the site; adding new content and
features such as portals; enhancing navigation, creating animation, video,
sound, logos and artwork; installing Java, Javascript coding and Flash;
installing Perl scripts; and backing up the site.
- Marketing and Search Engine Optimization to
drive traffic to the county website and making sure that it ranks highly
in search engines and track the number ofvisits to the website.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer Science, Information
Technology or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
- 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and
CSS
- 2 years minimum Web programming experience,
including PHP, ASP or JSP
- 1 year minimum experience working with
relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good
working knowledge of SQL
- Development experience using extensible web
authoring tools
- Experience developing and implementing open
source software projects
- Self-starter with strong self-management
skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple
priorities
2. ICT Officer (Hardware & Software
Support)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing user support and training of users
- Undertaking repairs and maintenance of ICT
equipment (Personal Computers, Laptops, Printers, Scanners, Ups and
associated peripherals
- Monitoring the performance of ICT equipment
and reporting any faults for further action.
- Install and test new software
- Writing and testing simple computer programs
according to instructions and specifications
- Assisting in the implementation of the
computer systems
Qualifications
- A Diploma in any of the following fields;
Computer Science, Information Communication Technology or its equivalent
from a recognized institution
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Higher Diploma will be an added advantage.
- 2 years experience in a vibrant ICT
Environment.
3. ICT Technician (Hardware Support- Copiers and other ICT Electronic
Machines)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing user support and training of users
- Undertaking repairs and maintenance of ICT
equipment Copiers Printers, and other ICT Equipment
- Monitoring the performance of ICT equipment
and reporting any faults for further action.
- Providing Copiers and Printer specifications
- Inspecting ICT Equipment
Requirements for Appointment
- A Diploma in any of the following fields;
Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Electrical &
Electronic Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Higher Diploma will be an added advantage.
- 3 year experience in the relevant field.
