The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act (2006). It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody.

It also oversees the coordination, supervision and development of programmes within the National Statistical System.

KNBS intends to conduct the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS) which will be a source of data to update the country’s poverty profile, consumer price index weights, National Accounts data and other socioeconomic indicators. 

The Bureau therefore invites applications from suitably qualified individuals with excellent credentials to fill the following temporary positions:-

Reporting to the Field supervisors, the Data Entry Clerk will be expected to providing consistency and quality report on the field data collection.
 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Keying in the completed questionnaires
  • Basic editing and consistency checks
  • Ensuring safe custody of survey questionnaires, materials and equipment
  • Ensuring confidentiality and safety of data collected
  • Transferring data to the supervisor and doing regular back ups
Requirements for Appointment
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen
  • Should have completed at least secondary level of education, with a minimum of C+ (plus) or its equivalent.
  • Must have scored a minimum of C+ (plus) in Mathematics and English in KCSE
  • Must be proficient in laptop use
  • Must have a typing speed of at least 30 words per minute
  • Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in censuses and/or surveys data entry operations will be an added advantage
  • Experience in CSPro software will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to write legibly
  • Must be resident in the county where application is made and where they wish to work
  • Should be a team player
  • Ready to work for long hours including weekends
  • Must be available for a period of an uninterrupted 8 months
