Database Administrator Job in Kenya

Our Client is an IT company currently recruiting a database administrator.

Development and design of data base strategies for databases (Oracle, SQL Server).

Design, review, and implement transactional databases for applications as well as star schema databases for the data warehouse.
 

Provide system monitoring, trouble shooting and performance improvements for the DBMS.
 
Provide capacity planning analysis for existing and new DBMS.
 
Provide database quality assurance during customization of existing systems and development of new systems.
 
Design of database backup, recovery, and archive process and adherence to Corporate and plant data retention requirements.
 
Develop and implement database standards, policies, and operating procedures.
 

Confer with personnel to analyze current business processes, identify problems, and learn specific requirements.
 
Contract license availability.
 
Manage outside monitoring and troubleshooting services of database administration resources, and in conjunction with outside data administration resources, provide 24 x 7 database support.
 
Provide assistance to Application Analysts and end-users with SQL and data access.
 
Develop, implement, and manage data warehouses.
 
ORACLE +SQL support ( installation with RAC)
 
Database Performance fine-tuning and .Load testing
 
RAC fail-over testing
 
DR switch over testing
 
Database backup/restore plan/policy and its configuration
 
Oracle Solaris System /Network Administration
 
VMware Administration
 
Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2012 R2 Administration HP Hardware and Blade Enclosure Administration
 
EMC Recover Point Administration

Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or related field is required.
  • 2-3 years relevant experience in database and data administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Oracle databases and management tools, as well as exposure with SQL server
  • 1 year experience with operating systems of Linux/Unix.
  • The ability to problem solve and debug the operational DBMS and application systems.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices in data administration methods.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), as well as organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
