Job Description

  • The Project Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of specific short-term and long-term projects.
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Manage project staff and/or volunteers according to the established policies and practices of the organization
  • Determine the resources required to complete the project and develop a schedule to effectively allocate the resources to the different project activities.
  • Develop forms and records to document project activities and ensure proper and secure documentation of all project information.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
  • Write reports on the project for management and for funders
  • Monitor cash flow projections and approve all budgeted project expenditures and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management as required.
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures and prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for funders as outlined in funding agreements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management or related field.
  • 2 -3 years experience in a project management role, with demonstrated ability in Project Financial Management, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and staff management. (especially in an NGO)
  • Proper knowledge of the Rift valley terrain as projects will revolve a lot around the Rift valley (knowledge of the local dialect will be an added advantage
  • knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • proven experience in strategic planning and risk management
