Vacancy: Senior Logistics Manager– Mombasa
 
Our Client is an integrated transit company located in Mombasa with over 70 trucks. 

Due to expansion and growth, they are looking for a suitable Kenyan of Asian origin to fill this position.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Oversee all the daily trucking activities of the transport division; supervising the General Manager, three Logistics Managers, Fleet Operators and all drivers.
  • Sourcing cargo and managing trucks for both local and transit activities.
  • Ensuring proper documentation; checking of invoices, ensure preparation of delivery notes, LPO’s, Prepare Quotations.
  • Allocating and recording resources and movements, planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.
  • Handling and managing all Daily logistics and operational issues like daily updates of trips, diesel and other expenses, Fuel issuance, Making of daily truck budget and Tracking of trucks,
  • Debtors follow up.
  • Booking in deliveries, Customer truck allocations and Dealing with clients directly and responding to their requirements.
  • Prepare profit and loss for each truck (liaising with accounts).
  • Supervise tippers operation.
  • Ensuring all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
Desired Education Background, Experience, Competencies and Skills;
  • We are only considering Kenyans of Asian / Indian origin for this position.
  • A relevant University Degree or College Diploma.
  • Extensive experience in large fleet management of heavy duty long distance trucks.
  • Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry in the region.
  • Tact, diplomacy and calmness, especially when dealing with tired drivers and disgruntled customers.
  • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge.
  • Good people management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent financial acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.

  • Reporting to the Senior Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will be a hands-on individual who will be tasked with;
  • Oversee all the daily trucking activities of the transport division; supervising three Logistics Managers, Fleet Operators, Stores Manager and all drivers.
  • Sourcing cargo and managing trucks for both local and transit activities.
  • Ensuring proper documentation procedures are followed by checking invoices, ensure preparation of delivery notes, LPO’s, Prepare Quotations and follow-up on payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicles follow up, managing the offloading of trucks, how long and where they are going to load.
  • Preparation of fuel reports.
  • Arrange for vehicle fuel allocation manually and using fleet management system.
  •  Computer literate.
  • Preparation of delivery notes and fuel local purchase orders.
  • Tracking of trucks through Fleet Management/Tracking system.

  • A Diploma in logistics.
