In order to strengthen our Milk Supply & Extension Services team as part of our growth strategy, we wish to recruit dynamic and result driven professionals to fill the following positions:

The positions will be based in the North Rift, Central Rift and Mount Kenya regions of the Country.  

Field Milk Graders
8 Positions
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reporting all the activities that have occurred during the field work. Must ensure satisfaction with the quality of milk delivered at the company from the field. Reporting has to be clear, comprehensive and accurate to ensure continuity of operations and no ambiguity.
  • Commitment to ensuring that discipline, honesty and integrity is maintained in the course of duty and duly executing his/ her tasks in a professional manner. Shall not be associated or be participative in any acts that are illegal by law or against company policy.
  • Preparation and standardization of laboratory chemical and reagents for use in the milk grading process.
  • Reporting all the incidences however minor with that have involved you with the regulatory bodies/arms of the government in your course of duty.
  • Charged with ensuring the safety of company equipment and resources entrusted to your use at all times. You will be fully responsible for all activities taking place in your work area/location.
  • Ensuring that the company quality clause on the milk transportation process is duly adhered to including ascertaining the quantity of milk procured, quality of the milk, use of security seals and the locking of the transportation truck/tanker.
  • Sampling, analysis and testing of raw milk in the field, ensuring that it complies with the highest quality standards as designed by the company.
  • Ensuring hygiene is held top on the agenda in the process of milk grading, collection and transportation.
  • Duly and adequately communicate all occurrences to the Quality assurance Officer from time to time to facilitate quick decision making and to taking of corrective actions.
  • Responsibility over the handling and operation of all laboratory resources under your care. All malfunctions, breakages or shortages should be promptly reported for remedial action.
  • Application and upholding the use of the company certified test methods and procedures during the course of duty. Expected to fully understand the principle behind every test method used in Dairy Quality Assurance.
  • Report any anomalies immediately to the process owners, for corrective action and follow up and ensure the corrective action taken is effective and sustainable
  • Troubleshooting all process anomalies as and when they occur followed by all documentation that related to the concerned product or process.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be directed from time to time.
Qualifications Required
  • Be a certificate / Diploma holder in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, and Analytical Science and have at least 3 years relevant experience.
  • Be innovative, enthusiastic and energetic, able to work with minimum supervision and
  • possess excellent organizational skills including the ability to multitask under pressure. Have excellent interpersonal skills, a pleasant and outgoing personality
  • Be self-motivated and team orientated and work to a high level of integrity and accountability, with keen attention to details.
  • Have good communication, interpersonal and report in skills.
  • Be Computer literate with hands on working experience in operating Microsoft Office
  • suite specially MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English and Kiswahili. Knowledge of local dialects will be an added advantage.

Milk Chilling Plant Managers
4 Positions
 
Main Purpose of the Role: To drive and manage the activities of the company‘s Milk Chilling Plant in the assigned area.
 
Job Outline: The job holder will be responsible and accountable for all activities of company’s Milk Chilling plant in the assigned area.
 
He /she will ensure that all operations of the company’s Milk Chilling Plants are as per the business plan.
 

He/she will direct, promote and coordinate the operations of chilling plants to ensure efficient and effective management of chilling plants operations.
 
The chilling plant manager will also ensure that all employees are performing their job responsibilities and meeting expectations in all areas of their job description.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Job Holder

Procurement and chilling of raw milk
  • Design and manage raw milk collection logistics rights from the farmers to the factory.
  • Manage the milk chilling plant  process and transfer logistics between chilling plants and the company and ensure milk dispatch documentations and delivery notes issued by chilling plant to accompany milk dispatch and the receipt received from the company to acknowledged receipt of the milk are reconciled daily.
  • Organize and lead milk suppliers mobilization and registration meetings.
  • Ensure milk supplier database is updated daily and statements delivered to suppliers on time.
  • Ensure milk suppliers payment is processed on time and money is wired to milk suppliers on time.
  • Establish daily raw milk supply targets for individual milk grading clerks and jointly develop plans to achieve them.
Reporting
  • Prepare and deliver (and where necessary, present) to the persons designated by the Deputy General Manager Quality Assurance, timely and accurate reports in accordance with the format given.
  • Be responsible for setting periodic targets within the business plan, in conjunction with the Deputy General Manager, and directing the business to achieve, or supersede, those targets.
  • Facilitate and provide all known information to assist in internal and external audit as ordered by Deputy GM QA.
Total customer satisfaction
  • The chilling plant provides quality service to milk suppliers and provides quality milk to the company for processing.
  • Establish a feedback mechanism that positively and quick responds to milk suppliers and company’s concern.
Supervision, training and development
  • The chilling plant manager will be ultimately responsible for the performance of all chilling plant staff hence
  • S/he will participate in supervision of all chilling plant as well as in making hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Developing and communicating chilling plant goals and results to chilling plant employees  in liaison with the Deputy GM QA.
  • Develop and review budgets and work plans with chilling plant employees monthly , quarterly ,half yearly and yearly.
  • Determining workloads and schedule, assigning chilling plant responsibilities and maintaining job description.
  • Undertake employee performance review.
  • Organize and hold regular employee meeting to get their views on how best the chilling plants can be managed.
Effective business management
  • Be responsible to ensure sustainability of the chilling plant and making timely decisions and actions to facilitate this.
  • The manager executives the chilling plant business plan (key elements include: fiscal responsibilities, manpower planning and logistics)
  • Be responsible of planning, supervising and control of resources of the plant including: staff, equipments, facilities, Finances, stocks etc
  • Ensure efficiency and sustainability are achieved whenever possible.
Public relations
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with community members, central government / county government and other collaborators, shareholders, suppliers , customers and the general business community.
Statutory compliance
  • Ensure that the plant operations and status are within the safeguard of the law and ensure that all licenses are in place.
  • Implement and ensure all contracts between the chilling plants and other business partners i.e. milk supply contracts are up to date.
  • Performance any other duties as assigned by the Deputy General Manager Quality Assurance.
Qualification and Experience
  • Degree in Dairy Technology, Food Science / Technology, Agri Business or equivalent qualifications.
  • More than 5 years experience in managing a milk chilling plant with the holding capacity of over 10,000 liters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and discipline.
  • Experience in working for Dairy Cooperative / milk processing company will be an added advantage.

Milk Procurement Managers
2 Positions
 
Purpose: The main role is to source milk from farmers and ensures it gets to production with the standards required.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • To manage collection of milk from dairy farmers
  • To oversee movement of raw milk from the farm to the factory
  • Visit milk collection centers and sensitize farmers on quality and price of milk.
  • Manage and motivate a number of associates who will account for our inventory.
  • Handle all procurement procedures and ensure quality product is purchased
  • Set up systems of milk purchasing & inventory management
  • Organize for transport, logistics and support plans
  • Formulate Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage transport logistics operations, including, equipment, material and personnel or casual staff
  • Ensure timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery of milk
  • Coordinate all activities involved in milk purchasing
  • Prepare reports on raw milk movements and other operational logistics issues
  • Identify, plan and manage special logistics operations
  • Prepare transport and logistics preparedness reviews
  • Guide and supervise the work of new/junior logistics officers or staff;
  • Continually improve systems, policies and procedures, and identify existing problems, and anticipate future ones.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Business/Development /Logistics/ Agriculture/ Dairy related studies
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience as a Milk Procurement Manager with a reputable milk processing company.
  • Experience in the dairy industry required

  • Readiness to work in a remote and rural set up.
  • Very proficient and experienced with Computer Applications like Ms Office

Micro-Biologist
1 Position 

To be based in Nairobi

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observing, monitoring and identifying microorganisms;
  • Tracking of microorganisms in a range of environments;
  • Monitoring and assessing samples from a range of sources;
  • Using a variety of identification methods, including molecular techniques, to test samples;
  • Developing and planning methods to prevent the spread of disease;
  • Developing and registering new dairy products;
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating new products in laboratory trials;
  • Developing products, such as enzymes, vitamins, and antimicrobials;
  • Growing microbial cultures, e.g. for use in the food and beverage industry.
