 The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of our daily business.


The small size of the team offers trainees the unique opportunity to work closely with senior members of the firm while gaining experience in a broad range of tasks and responsibilities in the Transaction and Advisory functions 

The position is located in Nairobi, Kenya and thus we are looking for someone who resides in Kenya or will be willing to travel to Kenya. 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out macro and micro-economic research and analysis for a designated portfolio of economies in Sub-Saharan Africa (Starting with one and graduating progressively)
  • Keep tabs on and undertake research to help inform opinion on political (domestic and otherwise) risk analysis for a designated portfolio of economies in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Help generate the firm’s opinion pieces for publication in the media on topical issues as and when need arises. As such, the candidate will be expected to be proficient in language (English) and analysis
  • Monitor trends in fixed income and equity markets and provide analysis and forecast on key movements in select markets in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Play an active role in the generation and compilation of the firm’s monthly update. The candidate will therefore be required to be self-driven in meeting timelines; above board in thought synthesis and writing; and with an eye for detail
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have just finished university. They will have:
  • Deep interest and experience in emerging markets business operations and investing
  • First or Second Class, Upper Division Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Journalism or any other related degree from a recognised University.
  • Made significant progress towards the achievement of a relevant professional course e.g. CPA, CFA, CSIA, etc.
  • High mastery of the standard office applications, most importantly Ms Excel and Ms Word
Requirements

To be considered for the Traineeship program, applicants must:
  • be able to commit 6 months and preferable 12 months to the role
  • be able to start in March or April 2015
  • have strong interpersonal and communication skills in English
  • be willing to travel between three countries where necessary and be flexible in the roles and tasks required
Remuneration: Stipend and flights will be defined based on the traineeship duration at a competitive rate for emerging markets.
