Job Opportunity: Regional Logistics & Security Manager

Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travels to other countries

Duties:
 

Under the authority of the Country Director, her/his specific duties will include:
  • Dealing with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures in relation to security.
  • Developing and enforcing security procedures and regulations in both Kenya and Somalia
  • Train ACTED staff members in the region as well as partners in security rules and procedures.
  • Provide documentary justification of expenses to the Country Finance Department;
  • Receive merchandise and oversee the customs procedures for imported goods;
  • Perform regional procurements the entire Horn Of Africa including countries with little knowledge of English eg CAR, DRC
  • Check the condition and nature of goods received as required by the contracts;
  • Identify warehouses for storages, ensure premises are furnished and made secure for use;
  • Manage stock movements and distributions of goods in the framework of project implementation;
  • Ensure the maintenance of and undertake a monthly inventory of the vehicle pool.
  • Ensure the maintenance and undertake a monthly inventory of communication equipment;
  • Ensure training and capacity building for the Logistics team members in the entire region in order to increase the level of technical ability and skills within the department;
  • Facilitating on-the-job training for specifics of ACTED’s Security and Logistics team members who will take up his roles after his departure
  • Develop relevant management procedures within the team;
  • Perform other relevant duties.
Requested Profile:
  • Master Level education in a relevant field such as International Relations or Development
  • Extensive security management experience (management, planning, staff development and training skills) in environment with unstable security e.g. (Somalia).
  • Must be proficient in French to enable easy flow of communication with French speaking countries in the Region e.g CAR,DRC
  • At least 2-3 years of working experience in insecure environments; preferably in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East;
  • Extensive experience in logistics and security management and procedures;
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills; 
  • Ability to train, mobilize, and manage both international and national staff
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure;
  • Ability to work well in unstable and frequently changing security environments;
  • Willingness to work and live in often remote areas under basic conditions;
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office;
  • Knowledge of local language and/or regional experience highly desirable

ACTED National Call for Tender for the Award of Immigration Consultancy Services Contract

ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development), is looking for a consultant in immigration services and is inviting suppliers of services to submit offers for the award of a consultancy contract:

The consultancy is aimed to offer Immigration services to ACTED Kenya Capital Office in Kilimani,
Nairobi.

Therefore, ACTED invites individual consultants or consultancy firms to submit applications for the consultancy aimed at:
  1. Advising on the completion of work permit or special pass application and the documentation required to accompany the application and ensure the application file is complete.
  2. Submission of applications to the NGO Board for recommendation to the Immigration department
  3. Follow up with NGO Board on the applications and forward to the immigration department once the recommendation is received.
  4. Make follow up with the NGO Board on behalf of ACTED for any rejections and assist in preparing the necessary documents for appeal cases, submit appeal and get interview dates and times and forward to client
  5. Follow up the applications at the immigration department to ensure prompt processing of the same. In case an application is deferred, follow up to find out reason and assist applicants in meeting the specified requirements (for example to ensure justification letters were well drafted.
  6. Once approvals are received, forward the same to clients to prepare payments and process security bonds where required. Submit payments and ensure the original permits/passes are issued and get the relevant endorsements onto the passports
  7. Process dependant passes for families once the permits have been obtained and endorse the passports
  8. Advise ACTED applicant’s on immigration issues, documentation and ensure they comply with immigration rules
  9. Provision of accurate advice to ACTED timeously on any new immigration requirements.
  10. Responsible for providing ACTED with feedback within agreed timeline.
  11. Plan workload and set realistic deadlines and priorities for own work, taking into account delivery expectations from ACTED.
