Accounts Assistant Job in Kenya

Our client, a fast growing Real Estate Company is looking to recruit and fill the position of an Accounts Assistant.
 
Purpose: To lend support over the affairs of the Finance Department.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Post entries to the accounting system and maintain an updated general ledger in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Produce periodic journal entries report for approval and ensure that amendments to the general ledger have been authorized by Senior Accountant/Financial Controller, before posting to the accounting system.
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of cash and bank, customer and supplier, intercompany and tax control accounts, for approval by Senior Accountant/Financial Controller.
  • Receive invoices from the suppliers and ensure that authorization by Accountant/Senior Accountant/Financial Controller is done before payment processing. Also, ensure payment processing is in line with the Documentation, Approval and Archiving of Finance Documents Manual.
  • Maintain at all times, proper documentation and archiving in line with the Documentation, Approval and Archiving of Finance Documents Manual.
  • Conduct a quarterly physical asset count and resultant variance reports. Maintain the fixed assets register and ensure it’s updated at all times.
  • Ensure statutory payments are approved and paid made on time (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, DIT, Pension, VAT, WHT and others) in accordance with the Finance manual.
  • Manage collection and banking of cash and cheques from customers.
  • Play a supporting role in the preparation of management accounts and statutory audits
  • Ensure that all procedures, within your scope, are line with the Finance manual and perform all other duties not specified above, as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of CPA III/ACCA part 3 or a lower level with a bachelor’s degree (Second class, Upper division and above) in a related field
  • A minimum of 6-12 months relevant experience will be an added advantage.
