Librarian Job in Kenya

IKM is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidate for the position of a
 Librarian.  


This position has a particular emphasis on in house library services and the duties will include:
  • Performing day to day circulation desk duties and assisting Advocates and other staff members with self-serve technology.
  • Connecting IKM staff with library, council and community resources and services.
  • Use of automated information systems, databases and other technology for a range of processing and service tasks.
  • Use of the IKM Library Management System.
  • Maintaining a catalogue of all publications in the library and ensure that they are systematically arranged in a manner that promotes their efficient use.
  • Creating and maintaining an up to date index of all Kenyan legislation and ensure that the library and the Firm have sufficient copies of the up to date legislation to run efficiently.
  • Recommending, developing and maintaining such systems as will ensure that the library attains such a degree of automation as is expected of a professional law library.
  • Maintaining collections using established procedures and systems.
  • Providing direct services to on-site and off-site library users.
  • Assist with other library activities, purchases and promotions.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
The ideal candidate must hold the following minimum qualification, skills and experience: -
  • Degree in Library and Information Studies from a recognized university.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to deliver under strict deadlines.
