Our client, a medium sized SACCO in Timau, Meru County, with a branch in Naivasha, wishes to recruit suitably qualified and experienced individual for the position of:

Internal Auditor

Ref: IA/SIRSA/02.15

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the job holder shall be responsible for the following:
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Development of the yearly risk-based internal audit plan.
  • Demonstrate excellent auditing skills in the performance and execution of quality audits: deliver audit work on time with minimal supervision, identify and discuss (raise and clear) audit issues with management, draft audit issues into a report highlighting the business impacts and risks, keep within time and cost budgets.
  • Document, evaluate and test systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness to ensure:
  • Compliance with policies and procedures,
  • Accomplishment of management’s objectives,
  • Reliability and integrity of information,
  • Economic use of resources, and
  • Safeguarding of assets
  • Provide ad-hoc consultative advice to new projects/problem areas as may be required from time to time.
  • Follow up and resolution of issues identified in internal and external reviews.
  • Carrying out special reviews such as budgetary and spending reviews, extracting data and reports, identifying trends and flagging issues.
  • Prepare draft reports, discuss findings with stakeholders and present neat working papers for review.
  • Verifies payment vouchers and schedules to determine their authenticity
  • Any other duties as assigned by management
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
  • Professional qualifications CPA (K) and a registered member of ICPAK
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field added advantage
  • Diploma in Co-operative Management as an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • At least 3 years’ experience to the position.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Strong business and financial analytical skills.
  • Have worked in a medium size Cooperative society

ICT Administrator

Ref:ICT/SIRSA/02.15

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and has the following duties:
  • Support the Sacco Back Office and Front Office management systems and / or any integrated ERP system. 
  • Experience with FineEXtreme system shall be an added advantage.
  • Advise management and BOD on all issues regarding use of Information Technology
  • Monitoring the progress of the design, installation and commissioning of the various networks and systems
  • Responsible for ICT Network administration, Software development, systems support and customer support
  • Enforce adherence to ICT Policy to all members of staff
  • Responsible for security of Sacco data and communication systems
  • Schedule routine backup of Sacco data and ensure secure storage
  • Leads ICT support team to ensure information systems are available, secure and fulfill the expectations of their users.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the management
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
  • Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Degree in Information Technology will be an added advantage
  • At least three (3) years relevant working experience
  • A self motivated person with ability to work both independently and as a team player with minimal supervision to achieve organizational goals

SACCO Branch Manager

Ref: BM/SIRSA/02.15
 
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the branch manager is responsible for coordinating day to day operations and business growth at the branch together with the following other duties;
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of sound financial management systems in liaison with the finance department
  • Manage branch performance against agreed targets and budgets,
  • Seek and continuously develop knowledge and information about competitor activity, pricing and tactics, and communicate this to relevant departments in the Sacco
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and promotion methods, and relevant internal liaison, to optimise quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the branch loan portfolio in accordance with the Sacco credit policy and procedures.
  • Management and growth of the branch savings and deposits in accordance with relevant policies, procedures as well as the overall Sacco strategic objectives
  • Ensure that all Sacco policies, rules, procedures and other relevant laws and regulations are adhered to and all staffs are conversant with themin line with Sacco objectives
  • In liaison with finance department, ensure adequate branch liquidity and that there is enough cash at all times
  • Ensure adequate security for cash in Sacco premises, in transit and at any paying points.
  • Controls the utilization of, and ensuring proper maintenance and custody of all society assets at the branch
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems to ensure that member’s queries and complaints are noted and addressed satisfactorily and in time.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate reporting systems to ensure the board and management are well appraised on branch performance and that accurate reports are prepared and submitted in time
  • Ensuring proper running and security of ICT resources at the branch in accordance with the ICT policy
  • Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships with stakeholders
  • Manage and motivate staff, train and develop staff, according to company policies and employment laws, and ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc.
  • Manage branch health and safety, security and emergency systems, and ensure staff and members awareness of the same, according to Sacco policies and relevant laws
  • Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the Sacco or elsewhere or by self-subject to Sacco approval.
  • Any other duties as may be allocated by superiors from time to time
Skills, Competencies and Experience
  • University degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • Attained CPA Part 2 or its equivalent e.g ACCA
  • Diploma in co-operative management, business management, microfinance, marketing, entrepreneurship or any other relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Have at least five years’ experience in a deposit taking SACCO with two years of these being in a senior management position or a banking environment.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Sacco and Co-operative regulations
  • Knowledge of credit management
  • Be decisive and possess quick judgment skills
  • Possess leadership and supervisory skills
  • Possess analytical and critical thinking skills in use of spread sheets and word processors
  • Management reporting skills
  • Be a team player with public relations skills
  • Have ability to work long hours and with minimal supervision
  • Be proactive and possess initiative
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to motivate and mentor a team

Accounts Assistant
Ref:ACC/SIRSA/02.15

Reporting to Accountant the key responsibilities for the position will include but not be limited to:
  • Ensure accurate and timely record keeping
  • Ensures monthly reconciliation of all General ledger accounts
  • Accurate maintenance of Members’ Personal Accounts
  • Practice transparency, accountability and effective use of financial resources and assets
  • Assist in design and formulation of Sacco products and services
  • ATM & Mpesa Reconciliation
  • Making General ledger postings
  • Market and cross-sell the Sacco products and services
  • Any other duties as requested by the Accountant
Skills, Competencies and Experience:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part 2
  • A business related degree in finance or Accounting an added advantage
  • Three years relevant working experience especially in a Sacco Society at a similar level.
  • Have exemplary integrity and honesty
  • Have excellent financial analysis, quick judgment, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player able to motivate and mentor a team
