Head of Finance Job in Kenya

Job Title: Head of Finance
 
Reports to: Director, Finance, Investments & Planning
 
Job Summary: The jobholder is responsible for the implementation of financial policies in line with international standards and regulatory requirements and coordination of finance related activities.
 
Key Responsibilities
 

Management Duties
  • Responsible for all finance staff and responsible for overseeing smooth running of their sections.
  • Responsible for staff development, monitoring performance and approving staff administrative procedures.
  • Prepares the budget for the department and ensure effective monitoring and management of costs.
Financial Management
  • Develop and install effective financial management systems and procedures aimed at improving financial reporting and accounting.
  • Ensure a sound financial position through daily monitoring of cash position.
  • Coordinate financial and management reporting and presenting it for purposes of decision making and to give a true representation of performance.
  • Manage income from various investments and strategize on other forms of income generation so as to enable business continuity.
  • Provide guidance to the Finance teams.
  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of the annual budget and ensure proper budgetary controls.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure payments are made and income receipted promptly.
  • Review cash book and cash flow statements.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors and respond to issues raised by the Auditors.
  • Prepare and facilitate the printing of Annual Reports.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or MBA) in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Tax or closely related field
  • Fully qualified accountant with CPA/ACCA/CA.
  • Must be a member of ICPAK
Experience
  • At least eight years’ experience in a busy finance environment, this includes three years’ experience in middle management role
  • Knowledge in Financial budgetary and accounting systems.
  • Practical experience in use of relevant MS Office applications.
  • Good understanding of taxation laws
