Job Title: Accountant
 
Reporting to:Finance Director
 
Duty Station:Makutano  CIM Centre – Yatta District, Machakos County

Purpose of the Job: To oversee the recording of CIM financial information including but not limited to preparing monthly reports, budgets, commentaries, standard financial statements, invoices, delivery notes and Payment vouchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the CIM Society bank accounts and cash flow on a daily basis ensuring that there is always sufficient funds for operations
  • Maintaining  mileage and service records for all equipment and vehicles
  • Processing Staff Working Advance requests
  • Processing of payments to ensure that each payment/transaction is in compliance with the basic standards contained in the CIM Finance and procedures manual and donor budgets
  • Maintenance of accurate financial transactions in QuickBooks
  • Handling of all petty cash and update the accounting system with cash transactions on a daily basis
  • Prepare bank, cash and other assigned account reconciliation
  • Maintain a clearly labeled, neat and efficient filling system for all accounting documents.
  • Ensure all payments are made promptly
  • Follow up on any bank related issues
  • Ensure timely remittance of all statutory obligations.
  • Preparation and follow up on a monthly cash flow statement every month.
  • Assist in preparation of the quarterly and annual budget.
  • Administer payrolls and all applicable employee taxes
  • Monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Carry out any other duties related to the job assigned by management as and when required
Skills and Personal Attributes
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in accounting and CPA certification required
  • 1-3 years experience in similar environment
  • Excellent in QuickBooks or very similar erp software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel)
  • Knows Kenyan tax and accounting codes/laws
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • High ethical standards and integrity
  • Ability to foster and thrive in a team environment
  • Preferably Professing the Christian Faith
  • Experience in planning, budget preparation and monitoring.
