Sub Editor - Social Media & Convergence
 
The incumbent will be part of a team that manages the Standard digital web content with a focus to Social Media.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to write, edit and-proofread and gauge newsworthiness of stories
  • Creativity and ability to generate content for the online platform
  • In-depth understanding of Twitter, Facebook and G+ and knowledgeable about how they can be used for conveying news and interactivity with multimedia audiences
  • a with social media trends, ethics, uses and strategies
  • Ability to edit video/audio clips, and load them on the site.
  • Understanding of YouTube, and other on-demand and live stream applications
  • Ability to use in-design and Photoshop
  • Proactive, interested and passionate about online news and citizen journalism
  • Basic knowledge of website structures and Content Management Systems.
Qualifications
  • Degree or Masters in Journalism, mass communication, Information Science or any related field, with over 1 years’ experience in journalism.

Sub Editor - Social Media Business
 
Key Responsibilities
  • To prepare a schedule of topics to be covered in the daily business section and daily pages for discussion with the Managing Editor and to assign the agreed topics to the writers
  • To keep the Managing Editor informed of work progress, any problems encountered and areas where he may require assistance and/or facilitation to complete assignments within the agreed deadlines
  • To read back and to quality control the business pages in the website to ensure that the articles are balanced, properly presented and factual
  • To lay out the business page
  • To check all headlines, pictures, captions, text and other business page elements to ensure that they are relevant, factual and appropriate
  • To identify areas of improvement / development of the page and to make appropriate recommendations to the Managing Editor
  • To read back the copy to ensure that it is balanced, properly presented, free of error and that it is within the laid down Company editorial policy and house-style
  • To observe the code of journalistic ethics.
  • Quality control of the business pages
  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • Ability to make quick decisions and to improvise if necessary
  • Energy and ability to work irregular hours
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills at all staff levels and at community levels
Qualifications
  • Degree or Masters in Journalism, mass communication, Information Science or any related field, with over 1 years’ experience in journalism.

Business Manager
 
The Business Manager will work closely with the Commercial Manager and will be charged with the responsibility of planning, Controlling and supervising the work of Business Executives to generate and meet agreed individual and team’s volume against set advertising sales annual revenue targets.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordinating and managing a team of Business Executives who are expected to deliver agreed sales volumes and revenue
  • Motivating the sales team to deliver departmental objectives
  • Maintaining good client service and relations
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies and campaigns
  • Maintaining and fostering business relationships with all clients of the company.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Basic University Degree; an MBA will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ working experience in a sales and marketing environment
  • Experience in a leadership and/or people management role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
