Senior Library Assistant (Liaison
Services)
Reporting to the Liaison Librarian, the successful candidate will assist in providing liaison support to academic programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning, implementation
and evaluation of library advocacy/promotional activities.
- Work with a team of librarians to develop
workshops, seminars and other trainings.
- Contribute to the overall collection
development in the library.
- Assist library users on how to use electronic
resources
- Handle daily library duties including shelving
books, shelf reading, maintaining stacks and ordering supplies for the
section
- Charging and discharging library information
resources to users for various information needs.
- Provision of quick reference and information
services to users for effective use of library materials and how to search
the OPAC as well as the e-Library.
- Carry out orientation for new users to ensure
effective use of library resources.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
Minimum qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Library or Information
Sciences from an accredited university.
Minimum experience:
- 3 years recent relevant professional
experience preferably in a tertiary educational environment.

Senior Archives Assistant
Reporting to the University
Librarian, the successful candidate will preserve and conserve library /
university materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Select, scan and transfer valuable records for
permanent preservation, e.g. online
- Download relevant newspaper articles to create
an archival inventory for reference.
- Process archival materials and preparing
accession records and finding aids for all archives collections
- Update and maintain the library’s institutional
repository and any other digitization projects
- Assist users to retrieve archival documents
and information
- Develop library exhibits that highlight the
archival collection.
- Shelving and shelf reading of archival
materials to facilitate retrieval
- Supervise work-study students,
interns/attachment students and part time employees in various library and
archives tasks.
- Handle daily library duties including
answering reference queries
- Maintain stack areas and ordering supplies for
the archives section
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Archives and Records
Management OR a Bachelor’s degree in Library/Information Sciences, Records
and Archives Management option from an accredited university.
- Those with Higher National Diploma in Archives
and Records Management plus five years’ experience from an accredited
college or university will also be considered.

Security Officer I (a)
Responsible for: Access control and physical security
operations
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages a warden system according to policy;
Output.
- Providing an effective deterrent measures geared
towards preventing incidences of potential threats of thefts,
disorderliness or offensive behaviors and other crimes.-
- Identify and control of staff, equipment,
students and visitors in and out of the university premises.
- Prevent, Detect, and Protect Against all
illegal invasion and destruction of the university’s assets and
information.
- Advising management where necessary (through
the head of security) on a wide range of security related events, specific
to the organization and its various operations which impact on the safety
of university personnel/property.
- Ensure that all exit and entry point to and
from the university are protected and there is a physical presence of
guards 24 hours day.
- Co-ordinate the functions of the contracted
security guards by supervision to ensure that they meet the university
expectation.
- Report all the daily occurrences for action
through the chain of command.
- Assist with the security training and
awareness to all contracted guards to conform to the university internal
security needs (done by carrying out routine lectures, compliance physical
checks of the guards their assignments
- Monitoring movements of university equipment
into and out of campus by verifying gate passes.- Out put university
property are returned to campus promptly
- Ensuring that all university equipment is
serviceable.
- Enforcement of all rules/regulations/policies
with which it is charged.
- Monitor functionality of perimeter fence,
CCTV, Fire-fighting equipment and securing lighting system in the
university.
- Preventing and protection against hazards of
flooding by constantly checking on taps to turn off is left running.
- Ensure that only members of USIU community use
the university facilities unless otherwise as will be specified.
- Vet all visitors and direct them to
appropriate offices/vet library users/ to ensure only authorized people
gain access to campus.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice,
Police Science or any social science from an accredited university.
- A diploma in lieu of the above in a
security-related discipline or social science.
- Must have attained a minimum grade of C+
(plus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, or equivalent
qualification.
- A valid driving license.
- Have attained the rank of an inspector or an
equivalent in the disciplined forces, or security manager from a
recognized security firm.
Minimum years of experience

devices operations

- Monitoring all the footage of CCTV and other
recording devices daily, record and report all incidents through
the chain of command.
- Prevent, Detect, and Protect Against all
illegal invasion and destruction of the university’s property through
surveillance.
- Provide evidence during investigations through
exhibits and video footage during disciplinary cases /hearing at the
university.
- Advising management where necessary (through
the head of security) on a wide range of security related events, specific
to the organization and its various operations which impact on the safety
of university personnel/property
- Perform leadership and shift duties with the
staff under the section. .
- In charge of the incident command center

Assistant Head of Security
Reporting to the Head of Security,
the successful candidate will oversee professional, effective and robust
investigations
Key Responsibilities
- Strategize and develops effective security and
contingency plans for the operations of the Investigations Section.
- Supervises the investigation of
security-related incidents involving USIU personnel, project personnel or
visitors.
- Prepare all witnesses to give evidence during
a hearing /during investigations.
- Together with the Head of Security,
participate in Disciplinary Committee hearings by giving evidence to
ensure that appropriate disciplinary action is taken.
- Together with the Head of Security, visit all
scenes /incidents, involving, students, staff, accidents involving USIU
motor vehicles and any other case as directed.
- Be the primary liaison between the department,
security agencies and other stakeholders in the criminal justice system.
- Collect and preserve all evidence and exhibits
before, during and after investigations.
- Provide timely and updated reports on all
investigated cases and incidents and the requisite recommendations to the
management for information and decision making through the chain of
command.
- Perform any other function conferred on him by
any law within the university.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice,
Police Science or any social science from an accredited university.
- Training from reputable security firm and/or
Kenya Defence Forces/National Police Service.
- Have attained the rank of an inspector or an
equivalent in the disciplined forces, or security manager from a
recognized security firm.
- A graduate (Master’s) degree will be an added
advantage.
Minimum years of experience
- At least 7 years’ experience in a similar
position.
