Treasury Accountant Job in Kenya

The Riara Group of Schools, a leading institution in the education industry, is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of a Treasury Accountant.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that daily cash takings are reconciled and banked intact on a daily basis. 
  • Confirm that daily banking summary reports are generated and all variances adequately addressed.
  • Produce daily Cash-flow monitoring bank balances and report on the total funds available.
  • Producing weekly treasury report - a report showing cash receipt and usage for the week and the expected cash receipt and usage for the week to come.
  • Reconcile all cash books to bank statements on weekly/monthly basis and ensure all reconciling items are dealt with accordingly and to submit bank reconciliation statements
  • Reversing returned cheques into the debtors account, charge applicable penalties.
  • Follow up to ensure that bounced cheques are replaced immediately in form of cash or banker’s cheque.
  • Maintenance of PTA balances and payment to the PTA officials.
  • Establishing the text books that were lost by pupils at the end of each term and raise invoices to the pupil’s account in order to recover the amounts from the pupils.
  • Maintaining the loans register, ensure adherence to loan terms and amortize repayments as they fall due.
  • Maintaining lease register and ensure lease payments are updated in the lease ledgers  on due dates.
  • Generation of the weekly and  monthly cash flow
  • Confirming that receipts, cash payments as well as  petty cash vouchers and cheque payment vouchers are correctly and accurately keyed in the accounting system and posting of the same completed on a daily basis
  • Management of Mpesa transactions and posting of transactions into the accounting system  on a daily basis
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
  • A fist degree in finance and a registered professional accountant (CPA-K).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience, 2 of which should have been at a similar level in a large organisation.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills, strict adherence to deadlines and a team player.
  • Excellent communication and demonstrated decision making skills.
  • High personal ethics and integrity
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in standard office computer applications and accounting packages.
  • Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
