Shop Assistant Manager
Job Summary:Oversee and manage all areas of the Coffee Shop and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service.

- Adhere to company standards and service levels
to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply,
utility and labor costs.
- Responsible for ensuring that all financial
(invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties
are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies
and procedures.
- Regularly carry out a Profit and Loss account
for the coffee shop to maximize profits.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling,
general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
- Maintain professional coffee shop image,
including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Estimate food and beverage costs. Supervise
portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
- Estimate food needs, place orders with
distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
- Ensure that proper security procedures are in
place to protect employees, guests and company assets.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to
reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports
promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
- Manage shifts which include: daily decision
making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality
and cleanliness.
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning
food quality and service.
- Provide direction to employees regarding
operational and procedural issues.
- Conduct orientation, explain the company’s
policies and procedures, and oversee the training of new employees.
- Ability to cost and carry out food and
breakfast training.
- Carrying out marketing activities for the
coffee shop.
- Develop employees by providing ongoing
feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting
performance reviews.
- Maintain an accurate and updated plan of the
coffee shop staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the coffee
shop is staffed for all shifts.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Diploma in Hotel and Catering from a
recognized institution.
- Bachelor of Science degree in hotel/restaurant
management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 3+ years of progressively more responsible positions
in the hospitality industry.
- 2+ years of experience supervising staff in a
similar role.
Required Skills:
- Pleasant, polite manner, self-motivated,
energetic, and enthusiastic team-player who is change-oriented and
consumer-focused.
- Excellent oral and written communication
skills, including presentation skills with leadership ability.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong customer
relationships.
- Proven ability to market a coffee shop to
potential clients
- Exceptional people skills, including personnel
management.
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a
team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
- Must be able to handle the pressures of
simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend
appropriate solutions to the coffee shop problems.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office
applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Accounting skills a must
