The Kenya YMCA National Training Institute (KYMCA NTI) was established in 1966 as YMCA Crafts Training Centre with the aim of providing vocational training to young school leavers. 

In 2005, it was rebranded to National Training Institute and its programmes reviewed so as to meet the emerging students, industry and business needs.

The KYMCA NTI is seeking to recruit for the following position:


Accountant
 
Job Purpose: Responsible for financial planning, accounting and control of the institution’s funds
 
Reports to: Principal
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Overall formulation of the finance strategy for the institute and oversee its implementation after approval
  • Efficient organization and management of the institutes’ finances in line with the approved budget
  • Advising management on financial matters
  • Ensure proper processing of all expenditure including payroll, suppliers and petty cash
  • Ensure proper processing and receipting of all incomes including imprest surrenders
  • Monthly reconciliations of all debtors and creditors statements
  • Implementation of an effective system of internal control
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and external financial reporting requirements
  • Develop, review, coordinate and implement accounting systems
  • Timely submission of monthly management reports including bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with and execute external audits
  • Timely submission of annual audited financial statements
  • Any other duty as assigned
Qualifications
  • Holder of Bachelors degree in a business related field and a CPA finalist
  • At least 5 years relevant experience preferably in an academic institution
  • Have proven knowledge and work experience in computerized accounting system
