Vacancy: Accountant

Summary: Our client is an international health and wellness company dealing with Health products in the range of: Skin care, Home care, and Food and Health fitness equipment. 

The group has its headquarters in China with operations in Europe, America and Asia and is now seeking to make inroads in the African market with Kenya as the Headquarters. 

The purpose of this role will be to maintain timely, accurate and consistent financial records consisting of preparation of financial statements and statutory accounts. 


You will also be responsible for all general ledger postings and tax returns and also ensure that efficient controls and processes are in place. 

The person shall also participate in budgeting 

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and control budgets; this also includes providing consultative support to planning and forecast initiatives through financial and management information analysis, reports and recommendations
  • Take charge of General Ledger administration and ensure that all reports are generated on time
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; submission of VAT, income tax & other statutory submissions
  • Management of the payroll & statutory benefit contributions
  • Responsible for both payables and receivables and ensuring timely reconciliations; this also includes bank reconciliations
  • Coordination and activities of the external auditor and ensure all audit issues are resolved; this also includes maintenance of proper audit trails and verification as well as reconciliation actions for all processed work;
  • Support  treasury activities including foreign currency hedging, cash flow management, liaison with banks, etc
  • Develop and implement risk management policies as well as establish and maintain appropriate internal controls safeguards
  • Assess financial reporting systems, accounting, procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures
  • Managing the fixed asset registers
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option)
  • CPA (K) or its approved equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively experience; FMCG experience is desirable
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must possess excellent organizational & planning skills
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and accounting procedures.
  • Proven analytical skills-ability to interpret or generate all types of financial data and financial reports and statements
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills
  • Able to prioritize, and manage tasks
