Kenya Pipeline Company Limited is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacant position:

System Administrator (Windows)

Reporting to Senior Data Centre & System Admin

Job Profile
  • Plan, Design, Deploy, Optimize and Maintain KPC office automation environment.
  • Plan, Design, Deploy, Optimize and Maintain KPC messaging infrastructure.
  • Implement group and security policies.
  • Configure and maintain the KPC Intranet.
  • Set up and maintain all server hardware and software as assigned.
  • Maintain and administer user accounts according to procedures.
  • Provide backup and recovery according to procedures, to prevent the loss of important information stored on the server.
  • Monitor and maintain maximum system performance levels.
  • Monitor system capacity making appropriate recommendations to management on hardware/software upgrades or additions.
  • Coordinate with Service Desk in providing support on server/LAN issues.
  • Perform other specific System Administration duties as defined in Working Practices.
  • Manage and secure user accounts.
  • Monitor tuning system performance, storage management, system security, print.
  • Management, capacity management and network connectivity.
  • Provide secondary support to Regional IT support administrator.
  • Train end users with simple network troubleshooting techniques.

Key Competencies
  • Must have experience in the latest Windows Server and Active Directory or Solaris or Linux or AIX.
  • Deep understanding of Windows Domain services including DNS, DHPC, SMTP, etc.
  • Detail knowledge of SharePoint architecture.
  • Detailed understanding of Microsoft Exchange planning, design, configuration maintenance and upgrading.
  • Basic knowledge of SMS, MOM, WSUS, SQL server required.
  • Must have Storage/SAN skills.
  • Proven knowledge in Messaging systems (exchange) and network technologies and standards.
  • Ability to deliver KPC’s articulated vision for change, create a sense of urgency around change and motivates staff to join change efforts.
  • Ability to maintain professional status and keep abreast of evolving trends through continuing professional education, especially in the area of petroleum products.
  • Ability to empower staff through coaching and counseling by emphasizing accountability and results oriented management rather than direct supervision.

Person Profile
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Full MCSE certification is mandatory.
  • CCNA is desirable.
