We are looking to fill the position of Research Assistant within the Head Office based in Nairobi:

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer - East Africa

Main Purpose of the Role
  • To provide high level of research support and to carry out research duties on various projects.
  • Manage quantitative/qualitative research projects, with a senior member of the business overseeing the work.
  • Responsible for selecting the appropriate research methodology and supporting techniques to meet the defined business objectives.
  • Depending upon the selected methods, develop or assist in the development of the research instrument.
  • Review the collected data, author reports and makes business-oriented recommendations to the responsible department.
  • Carry out research presentations as and when required.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in business, mathematics, or the sciences
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS/SAS

Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years within the custom Market Research industry
  • 1 year experience in financial sector will be an added advantage
  • Academic and practical experience with a wide array of new product, brand and customer satisfaction research methodologies
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
  • Strong analytic skills with experience in statistical modeling and analysis
  • Experience of managing conflicting priorities and co-coordinating multiple tasks in a highly pressurized environment.
  • Experience of preparing and delivering against agreed plans and budgets.

Key Result Areas

Research
  • Carry out research duties on the business growth, including basic quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Read and synthesize research literature from a variety of sources (policy and academic) in response to research questions
  • Data collection and management
  • Contribute to the writing of research reports and other research outputs
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new research skills linked to the projects

Support & Assistance
  • Provide project and events support such as:
  • Support in setting up focus groups
  • Support in setting up case studies
  • Support in setting up events
  • Manage time effectively in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Deliver high quality work that ensures stakeholders satisfaction
  • Develop key competencies at an appropriate level to provide first rate support
  • Provide general administrative support as required

Other

  • Undertake any other reasonable task as may be required from time to time
