Profile Introduction: Our client is an NGO with a mission to improve education and health of poor children in Africa through development interventions, research, advocacy and social business.

The overall purpose of the role is to
  • Take the lead in identification, development of new investment and fundraising opportunities;
  • Enhance the visibility of company through networking, coordinating the development of communication materials, tools;
  • Organize major stakeholder and staff events in the region.

Minimum Requirements

A masters degree in business administration, communications, public/ international relations, sales and marketing or any other closely related field
At least 5 years experience in a similar or related position in national and/or multinational companies/organizations

Job Specification
  • Consolidating existing partnerships with major International, Multilateral and Corporate donors to maintain or increase their contributions to the company’s programmes;
  • Researching, mapping and opening doors to the corporate and donor landscape
  • Presenting the company and her programmes and social businesses to relevant donors and investors;
  •  Organizing and implementing donor/investor cultivation events in the region;
  • Developing fundraising materials, including letters of inquiry, grant proposals, acknowledgement letters, and other donor/investor-targeted content;
  • Ensuring donors and partner receive consistent, quality communications;
  • Monitoring of fundraising costs and income against the strategic and programme plans;
  • Ensuring correct procedures are followed and donor/investor requirements are clear to the programme teams;
  • Promoting the company’s brand with clear messaging and targeting for branding and fundraising purposes;
  • Leading communications efforts around various events planned within the region, including knowledge fairs, regional and international meetings, conferences and workshops, relevant media, for branding and fundraising purposes
  • Initiating and developing communications material for branding and fundraising purposes.
  • Developing/providing input to briefing notes, press releases, communiqués, talking points and speeches for external and internal communications for branding and fundraising purposes.

Competencies
  • Highly motivated and a self driven sales professional with a keen eye on opportunities available in the region and internationally.
  • Proven success in sales ability and account management experience is required.
  • Good communication (written and oral) and negotiation skills with proven ability to initiate and close deals
  • Ability to identify and exploit new investment and donor engagement opportunities
  • Innovative and creative with ability to generate ideas and solutions
  • Proven ability to open new doors, to build a network of organizations, donors and investors who are relevant and willing to fund and/or invest in the company programmes
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design and implement major campaigns, including in the field of marketing and branding, especially utilising modern communication tools and processes (web-based applications , social media networking as well as on-line campaigning.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiency;
