Advocate, Paralegal, Company Secretary Jobs in Nairobi, Kenya

Our client, a law firm in Nairobi is looking to fill the following positions:

Advocate

Required qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • LLB degree from a recognized institution
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Interest in Conveyancing & Commercial Law
  • Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results oriented
  • Perform multiple tasks effectively
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters
  • Possess advanced skills in customer service as they relate to legal concepts and provides effective solutions
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented and personable with a professional demeanour
  • Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with other lawyers and clients

Salary Range: Starting Kshs: 40,000.00

Paralegal

This position will offer support to the legal team by:
  • Attending to registration of land registry documents.
  • Regularly follow up on outstanding issues as necessary
  • Scanning documents into our conveyancing database;
  • Archiving files
  • General administrative tasks
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

Education, Professional Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
  • Diploma in Law/ Legal Studies
  • At least 2 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Sound time management
  • Detail oriented

Salary Range: Starting Kshs 20,000.00

Company Secretary

The position will be responsible for:
  • Organizing, preparing agendas for, and taking minutes of Board meetings and annual general meetings and communicating promptly decisions made for appropriate action or Implementation.
  • Providing company secretarial services to the clients
  • Working closely with the clients’ external secretary to ensure filling of annual returns is done on time.
  • Maintaining statutory books, including registers of client members, directors and secretaries.
  • Ensuring that the company’s legal risks are managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment, and take appropriate action.
  • Managing the clients Securities & Documentation and ensure efficiency in its operations.
  • Managing Client Company’s Share Registry and ensure efficiency in their operations.
  • Custodian of the clients company seal and be responsible for its use
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Education, Professional Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:
  • MUST be a registered CPS (K) member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate, regulatory and company law, rules and norms.

Salary Range: Open to negotiation
