While Evidence Action continues to grow the pipeline of proven-interventions to bring to scale, its current programs in the Africa Region include:
  • Deworm the World Initiative (DtWI) actively supports the scale-up of school-based deworming programs worldwide to improve children’s health, education, and long-term development.
  • Dispensers for Safe Water is an entrepreneurial program scaling the chlorine dispenser system – a proven innovation that dramatically expands access to water treatment at an extremely low cost.
  • DtWI provides technical assistance to National School-Based Deworming Programme (NSBDP), which is implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in 28 Counties and 143 Sub-Counties across Kenya.


In the first year of the Programme (2012-2013), 5.9 million children were dewormed in over 13,000 schools in Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, Coast and parts of Central regions.

We are looking for a dynamic, engaged individual to join our team as an Associate, Implementation Cascade, working within organization’s Programme Implementation team.

The successful candidate will have a passion for programme coordination and driven by a mission to continually improve the quality of implementation and outcomes.

A. Job Purpose

To perform general accounting and financial reporting duties for Evidence Action/IPA

B. Management Responsibility: None

C. Description of Duties
  • Verifying all payment vouchers for accuracy and completeness before processing and posting into the accounting system-Sage.
  • Ensure accurate petty cash disbursement, monitoring and allocations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all payments to staff, Sub grantees and vendors
  • Manage accounts payable.
  • Manage accounts receivable.
  • Review for compliance with donor and organizational policies/guidelines on all payments.
  • Provide financial and compliance guideline/training to sub grantee staff.
  • Prepare timely Sub grantees returns for management review.
  • Visit the Sub grantees to monitor their financial performance as need arises.
  • Prepare financial reports for all programs for submission to management by the 15th of every following month.
  • Follow-up with the Sub grantees on periodic financial liquidation status.
  • Other duties as assigned

D: Accountability

Decision Making:
  • For routine decision making to be guided by generally accepted accounting principles and organization rules and regulations.  Refer to Head of Finance on issues out of normal policies and  procedures
  • Will work in collaboration with finance staff at the global level
  • Responsibility over data or information:
  • Has access to important and highly confidential information.
  • Responsibility over assets:
  • Computer, printer, office equipment, office furniture

Required Qualifications

Professional qualifications
  • CPA III /ACCA III qualifications however CPAIII and Degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field is desirable.

Relevant Experience and Key skills:
  • Experience in managing community based programs
  • At least 5 years of experience performing responsibilities required for the position and demonstrating progress in the role.
  • Audit experience and managing of USAID/CDC grants is desirable
  • Relevant experience in the use of the Sage accounting software.
