Physiotherapy Trainer

The Position: Under the supervision of
the Rehabilitation Team Leader, the Hospital Physiotherapy Trainer is
responsible for training refugee rehabilitation workers to provide basic
physiotherapy treatment to in-patients in camp hospitals.
He/she
will contribute to build the capacity of the medical staff and patient’s
families on preventive rehabilitative measures.
S/he will be responsible for
1. Basic physiotherapy training of
refugee rehabilitation workers
2. Contributing to building the
capacity of the medical staff and patient’s family on basic rehabilitation for
prevention of complications.
- Communicating with the focal person of health partners and organizing, in the frame work of their continuous education program, regular sensitization and information sessions on prevention of complications and basic rehabilitation measures.
- Preparing the content, material and tools for sensitization sessions
- Providing sensitization sessions on prevention measures to the staff of the hospital
3. Providing physiotherapy treatment
for in-patients
- Introducing the physiotherapy services to the hospital director and agree on approach and way forward for effective added value of physiotherapy in hospital.
- Participating actively in the daily ward rounds with the medical teams and contributing to identifying patients in need of physiotherapy.
- Providing in-patient physiotherapy treatment according to the defined protocols.
Qualifications and skills required:
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years practical experience in related discipline, particularly in development or humanitarian context
- Knowledge of disability and community-based rehabilitation an added advantage

Mainstreaming Officer
Responsible to:- Project Manager

The Position: Under the supervision of
the Project Manager, the Disability Mainstreaming Officer is responsible for
the implementation and quality monitoring of the disability mainstreaming and
inclusion component of the disability project in Kakuma as per the project
strategy and action plan.
He/she
will ensure empowerment of persons with disability and promote community
awareness through advocacy campaigns conducted by persons with disability.
He/she
will promote equal access to services and inclusion of persons with
disabilities in programming of other humanitarian partners.
S/he will be responsible for
1. Implementation of the
mainstreaming activities and support to project team
- Developing clear annual work plan and all other necessary planning documents (i.e. IAP etc) for sharing with the project team
- Creating disability awareness strategy and providing guidance and technical support to the other project staff
- Documenting lessons learned on the mainstreaming process at camp level
2. Advocacy and awareness raising.
- Enhancing capacity of refugee staff to facilitate the implementation of advocacy activities by local groups of persons with disability
- Enhancing capacity of refugee staff to mentor refugees with disability to facilitate disability sensitization and awareness creation in the community---including parents and leaders---related to disability inclusion, participation and integration of persons with disabilities in all community activities
- Coordinating and facilitating development of campaign activities
3. Capacity building of persons with
disabilities and community
4. Promoting accessibility of
services
- Supporting and building capacity - i.e. using self-guided assessments - of aid agencies to plan, design and implement mainstreaming and inclusion of persons with disabilities within their activities and structures.

The
Position: Under the direct supervision of the Field Administrator in Kitale.
He/she will ensure security of HI assets and human capital.
He/she is responsible for
1. Offering security to the
organisation’s equipment and human capital by
- Performing periodic patrols and inspection to all surroundings premises to prevent and detect any crime and any other insecure risks
- Recording, reporting and alerting any threat to staffs, guests or visitors
- Raising security alarm for any high-insecurity risk detected
- Ensure any HI property leaving the compound is fully authorized.
- Reporting to the line manager as soon as possible on any abnormality seen or observed.
2. Ensuring smooth flow of visitors
in and out of the premises by screening and giving them
- directions and visitor’s pass by
- Ensuring that the gates are always closed and locked
- Ensuring non access of unauthorized person/vehicles into the compound premises
- Determining the nature of the visit and who she/he visiting is, personal or Organization identification and the purpose of the visit.
- Screening the visitor and in case he/she has a luggage check luggage
- Issuing the visitor Card/pass for submission to the receptionist
- Recording in Visitor’s Log Book
Qualifications and skills required
