The Catholic Secretariat of Mombasa is the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa (CAM) Administrative, facilitative and coordinative arm through which the CAM implements and coordinates various pastoral programs at the Archdiocese level and undertakes all those responsibilities which express the mission of the Catholic Church.

The organization is seeking for outstanding, dynamic and result-oriented individuals to fill the positions of:

Front Office / Events Assistant will assist the Manager in marketing, planning and execution of events with the aim of becoming the best centre for stay and events with spiritual nourishment for its client at Mary Mother of Africa Pastoral Centre

Reporting line: The Front Office / Events Assistant will report to the Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researches markets and identifies opportunities for events and Guests for the centre
  • Oversees booking for Venues; Conference, Chapel, Hall and rooms
  • Post event evaluation, analysis and reports for the same
  • Attending and resolving Guests complain

Requirements
  • Diploma in PR, Communication or Marketing background from a recognized institution
  • Qualification in Business Administration and Events Management will be an added advantage
  • Minimum three years in Front Office/ Events Assistant.

  • Is a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest
  • Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
  • Excellent marketing, negotiation skills and attention to detail.

Senior Cateress / Head Cook

To prepare food and serve clients at Mary Mother of Africa Pastoral Centre

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake menu planning
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking and serving of main meals, snacks e.t.c in accordance with the specified menu
  • Determine quantities to be cooked and size of portions to be served, taking into account diets to meet medical, ethical and personal needs
  • Check quantity and quality of stock received and notify suppliers of deficiencies
  • Oversee washing and cleaning of floors, crockery, utensils, work surfaces and other kitchen equipments to ensure that the necessary hygiene, health and safety standards are maintained in the kitchen and dining room as appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate clothing, including head wear is worn at all times in accordance with the health guidelines
  • Co-operate fully with the statutory inspections and implement recommendations as appropriate
  • Supervise other kitchen staff on shift and undertake performance appraisal
  • To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements
  • Diploma in Food Production or catering management from a recognized institution.
  • Three years experience working in a busy kitchen. Having worked in a busy ala cart kitchen or having knowledge in pastry or bakery is an added advantage.
  • Ability to prepare and serve well presented and attractive meals to individual requirements
  • A positive attitude and commitment to providing nutritious meals and offer a range of choices including to those with specific dietary requirements
  • Have basic knowledge of health hazard analysis and first aids
  • Committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest.

Deputy Principal for ST. Theresa’s Girls Secondary School

Will assist the principal in oversight of all staff, pupils and other resources within the institution

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deputize the Head of the school whenever absent
  • In charge of discipline
  • Supervise the prefects in their duties and carefully control of punishments awarded
  • Take reasonable teaching workload
  • Drawing up the school time table
  • Supervise classes and Teachers
  • Secretary at staff meetings
  • Work closely with the Head / Principal

Requirements   
  • Degree in Education
  • Teaching subjects Eng / Literature
  • Good Track record as a Principal, Deputy Principal or a Senior Teacher with at least three years experience
  • Excellent ICT Skills
  • Female / Mature, Disciplinarian highly motivated and able to lead a team
  • Must have worked in a boarding school

Committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest
