Career Opportunity: Credit Controller

Three Green Apples Consulting Limited is a consulting practice providing transformational human resource management services.

Our client, a four-star hotel located in Nairobi, is looking to hire a Credit Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

The Credit Controller will be required to:
  • Validate sales revenue, manage invoicing within established deadlines including posting collections, drawing up, records, auditing invoices and performing end-of-month closings.
  • Involve the sales team in risk management and collection of overdue payments, providing them with appropriate information (guest account balance, solvency, etc.).
  • Handle client complaints as well as negotiating settlement terms for payments overdue.
  • Enforce guest credit allowance terms throughout the hotel.
  • Conduct the reconciliation with the hotel corporate accounting department.
  • Carry out credit checks on new customers.
  • Comprehensive debtor management including assessment of risk and opportunities to improve company cash flow.
  • Being the overall responsible for all sales ledger billing for the hotel businesses
  • Set up admin accounts within the relevant billing systems for all events. Post fixed charges from event function sheets to the billing systems.
  • Check to ensure all deposits received are correctly accounted and allocated on the billing systems.
  • Ensure that billing instructions are clear and strictly adhered to, including working with Front Desk to ensure that pay on departure instructions are highlighted and followed.
  • Have a broad understanding of the VAT treatment of invoicing.
  • Open credit signing accounts provided they meet the company standard and that recognized checks have been exercised.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relations with the sales and operations departments.

Requirements

The position is a very hands-on role, requiring a highly driven individual who will hit the ground running.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Full CPA (K)/ ACCA or equivalent qualifications. A university degree in Accounting/Finance Business or a business related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2-3 years of practical experience in a busy commercial organization.
  • Strong business acumen, people management.
  • Stickler for perfection with a great eye for detail.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good communication.
  • Leadership orientation.

Experience in use of Sun system, Micro Fidelio will be an added advantage.

Remuneration: A competitive salary will be offered for this position, negotiable dependant on experience and demonstrable contribution.
