Kenya Cereal Enhancement Programme

Recruitment of Programme Coordination Unit Staff

Background: The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries, State Department of Agriculture, is rolling out the Kenya Cereals Enhancement Programme (KCEP) whose objective is to contribute to National Food Security.

The programme is funded by European Union through IFAD.

The Ministry wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to the following position:

Driver (DRV) – Nairobi

Reporting to the Programme Assistant (PRA).

She/he will provide safe and efficient transport services to the Programme Coordinator, the PCU staff and official visitors to the programme.

Duties and responsibilities:-

(a) Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;

(b) Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc;

(c) Detecting and reporting malfunction of vehicle systems;

(d) Ensuring maintenance and repair of the vehicles assigned;

(e) Maintaining of work tickets and ensuring security and safe custody for the vehicle on and off the road;

(f) Safety of passengers and/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

For appointment to this position, applicants must have:-

(a) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D Plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

(b) A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive;

(c) Acceptable professional driving certificate and possession of a valid driver’s license. Possession of basic vehicle maintenance skills will be an added advantage;

(d) Five (5) years’ accident free driving attested by the Police, other relevant authority and previous employer;

(e) Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution;

(f) A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;

(g) Basic computer skills;

(h) Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
