NGO HR and Administration Manager Job in Kenya

We are seeking to recruit a results-oriented and proactive team player to fill the position of Human Resource and Administration Manager.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the successful candidate will lead Practical Action Eastern Africa’s administrative and human resource management functions in accordance with established policies, procedures and relevant labour laws.

S/he will lead Practical Action’s efforts to strengthen and implement effective HR systems towards the fulfilment of its vision and mission.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and implement HR plans to support the delivery of the organization’s overall strategic aims and objectives.
  • Establish HR strategic networks with relevant stakeholders/ institutions that will support effective delivery of Practical Action Eastern Africa’s mandate.
  • Ensure that all employment practices, compensation, employee benefits, and human resources activities are within established standards, procedures, guidelines, and policies of Practical Action Eastern Africa and local labour laws to ensure a climate of equal opportunity for all.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of and comply with HR policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and coordinate the development and implementation of multiple organizational change programs aimed at improving performance.
  • Provide leadership on issues related to employee relations to ensure Practical Action complies with relevant laws.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to staff on administrative and human resource matters in consultation with Regional Management Team, when necessary.
  • Coordinate the performance management process to ensure that it is completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Liaise with Finance Department on the preparation of payroll and processing of staff benefits.
  • Oversee recruitment and induction process.
  • Coordinate staff training and development programmes, including analysis of training needs, evaluation of training, feedback to management, and coordination of special programmes.
  • Ensure that all HR and administrative functions in field offices are carried out according to established policies and procedures.
  • Line manage the Administrative Assistants and Office Assistants in the Nairobi office.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the management.

Requirements
  • Degree in Human Resources Management/relevant discipline coupled with relevant HR & Administration experience.
  • A master’s degree in Human Resources Management will be an added advantage.
  • HR Professional Certification.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years progressive experience in Human Resources and Administration Management, preferably with an International NGO.
  • Experience with the Private Sector will also be considered.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at different levels
  • Strong organisational skills and detail-oriented.
