Medical Team Leader
(MTL)
Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp
The
objective of our project is to provide primary and secondary level of health
care to the Refugees in Dagahaley refugee camp.
MSF
provides a full package of medical care through 4 primary health care units and
1 hospital (100 beds) with 24 hour emergency and OT.
Health
services include curative, preventative, nutritional activities and emergency
preparedness and intervention with partners.
The
selected candidate will be reporting technically to the Medical Coordinator and
hierarchically to the Field Coordinator.
He/she will
be responsible of the overall management of medical activities of the Dagahaley
Refugee Camp project.
Location: 25% Nairobi and 75% in Dagahaley
according to the needs.
Start date: 9th December 2013

Contract duration: 12 months fixed term contract with

Main Tasks include:
- Overview and coordination of all medical activities at field level including Primary Health Care, Outreach, Hospital and Emergency response.
- The MTL works in collaboration with the field team to ensure quality of all medical activities in accordance with the MSF protocols and MSF guidelines.
- The MTL is the medical representative in the field and assists the Field Co with stakeholder relations and attendance and/or communication at official medical meetings.
- He/she provides support and guidance to the Hospital Director, FMA and the Outreach Supervisor
Requirements:
- Kenyan national
- Preference to Recognized Medical Doctor. Paramedical diploma/degree considered only IF exceptionally strong in other requirements of MTL role.
- 2 years post graduate experience related to the diploma /degree (preferably pediatrics and maternity)
- Basic epidemiological background
- Previous experience as Field Coordinator or Medical Field Referent with INGO
- A minimum of 1 year experience with MSF preferably or with other INGO
- Health/project Management experience desirable,
- Registered and licensed to practise by the Kenya Medical and Dentists Board.
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude, organized, autonomous and attentive to details.
- Due to the nature of the work, an ability to speak Somali could be a strong advantage
Medical Doctor
Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp
The
selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of Medical Activity in the
Hospital and he/she will be responsible to provide clinical services at the
Dagahaley Hospital.
Main Tasks include,
but not limited to:
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis, treatment and prevention (helped by clinical examination and available laboratory services) and ensure patient follow-up at outpatient clinics if needed.
- Ensure and organise medical activities at the hospital for patients and/or population in accordance to the context, to MSF protocols and guidelines and to universal hygiene standards taking into consideration quality and continuity of care
- Conduct basic emergency surgical interventions mainly Caesarean sections
- Monitor the medical activities by ensuring data collection, compilation and entry into the UNHCR and MSF health information systems, and contribute to the analysis and reporting of the data in context with a public health approach to inform future programming
- Supervise, motivate and train medical teams in the various departments of the MSF project in Dagahaley (formal and informal).
Requirements:
- Medical doctor with diploma/degree recognised by the state.
- Registered and licensed to practise by the Kenya Medical and Dentists Board.
- At least 2 years clinical and surgical experience at a busy hospital. Previous MSF experience is an advantage.
- Kenyan national
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude
- Organized, autonomous and attentive to details
- Punctual, reliable and flexible to work long hours when required
- Familiarity or experience working with health information systems and computer literacy with practical use of MS-Office applications an advantage
- Due to the nature of the work, an ability to speak Somali will be a strong advantage
Pharmacist
Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp
Project Summary:
The

performance.
Main Tasks:
- Stock management of drugs and medical material within the hospital/health posts
- Management of Central Pharmacy including reporting, inventories, consumptions, flow
- Provides clinical support to their teams and clinicians. Monitors prescriptions and conducts audits to ensure legitimacy and clinically justified based on MSF protocol.
Requirements:
- Kenyan national
- Pharmacists with diploma/degree from recognized institutions.
- Must be a registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons board, Kenya
- 2 years experience working in demanding clinical setting
- MSF experience an added advantage
- Ability to speak Somali will be highly advantaged
