Position: Chief Finance Officer

Reports to: Managing Director….Group CFO

Location: Nairobi

Roles and Responsibilities

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization. 

The CFO essential functions are overseeing management of all fiscal reporting activities, corporate contract administration, supervising and developing finance staff; establishing accounting and finance policies and procedures for the company and establishing and maintaining budgets, credit and cash flows.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Responsible for Regulatory and statutory compliance
  • Preparing annual business plans and budgets
  • Analysis and monitoring of monthly, annual corporate and statutory accounts
  • Preparation, Interpreting & Analysis of Consolidated Financial Statements and reports
  • Working Capital and Fund Management
  • Negotiating Short-term & Long-term finance facilities on behalf of the Group from lending institutions
  • Project-related financial planning 
  • Responsible for Financial Integration of all modules of ERP System including Financial Business Analysis for deciding the financial closing, security checks in the systems, access to the different users for financial information through the system including access to financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.
  • Management of Internal and External Audits
  • Establish and monitor Corporate Financial policies, Systems and Processes across the Group
  • Responsible for strategic business planning to facilitate fiscal discipline
  • Continuous Development of additional Finance & Accounting policies and procedures for the Group to ensure compliance with international reporting / accounting standards
  • Developing Short-term, Medium-term & Long-term Financial Planning for the company.
  • Preparing Management Accounting summaries & reports for the Executive Management.
  • Ensure Optimum inventory management & commercial support to business
  • Oversee all procurement and payroll activity for staff and participants.
  • Lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committee.
  • Serve as one of the trustees and oversee administration and financial reporting of the organization's Savings and Retirement Plan

Education and/or Experience Requirements: 
  • Must be a holder of a bachelor's degree in accounting and certified public accountant
  • Master's degree in a specialized area of finance
  • Over 15 yrs of experience in accounting and finance with progressively higher levels of responsibility performing and supervising finance and accounting work
  • Needed skills include effective written and verbal communication
  • Preparation of financial statements and budgets
  • Use of general office software and specialized accounting software
  • Knowledge of accounting laws, practices and procedures.
