Position Title: Centre Accountant

Directly reports to: Centre Manager - Kenya

Indirect Reporting to: Financial Controller - Africa

Office Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Our client is an international organization in the business of providing serviced and virtual offices acquiring as well as business support services.

They would like to recruit an accountant who will be in charge of the Kenya Office.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete the writing up of account books and records.
  • Ensure that statutory reports are filed and the corresponding remittances duly made for the year to date.
  • Maintain records of receipts and payments in respect of both cash and bank through the keeping of cash and bank accounts respectively.
  • Preparation of annual budget for the centre showing periodic profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
  • Reconcile bank balances monthly with the bank statements.
  • Maintain and balance the monthly petty cash records.
  • Prepare the nominal ledger including the sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Maintaining suitable systems for filing all invoices and other items relating to the accounting systems.
  • Preparing details at the accounting date of debtors and prepayments and creditors and accruals.
  • Maintaining purchase and sales records and ensuring these have been properly filed. All monthly statements for both sales and purchase records are also properly filed.
  • Providing all VAT records in respect of monthly returns filed including breakdown of both input and output claims made on monthly basis.
  • Providing all ETR receipts used for preparing the monthly VAT returns.
  • Maintaining proper payroll records for both permanent and casual staff.
  • Summarizing the accounting records as appropriate prior to preparation of accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Financial Statements for Group reporting and management accounts purposes.
  • Provide strategic planning information and analysis.
  • Liaise with the external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Provision of workspace and administrative support.
  • Provide background information as and when required on prior transactions and company history.
  • Provision of relevant business plans and company strategy.
  • Any other assignments from the Financial Controller or the Centre Manager.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting or any other related degree.
  • Considerable experience in the SERVICE industry.
  • CPA - K
  • Working Knowledge of QuickBooks.
