Systems Engineer
Ref: SST/SE/08/2013
Reporting
to the Practice Lead, the incumbent will determine the technical solutions
architecture according to the company’s sales strategy.
The Systems
Engineer will work as a technical lead with SST sales teams and business
partners.
The
position will provide the following services: IT infrastructure consulting,
proposal preparation support, technical presentations to customers, and the
analysis and design of SST’s complex products and solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand technical scope of requirements;
- Ensure proper vetting of vendors for IT infrastructure solutions;
- Ensure quality development of technical proposals as per client requirements;
- Support in delivery of technical projects;
- Research and develop relevant innovative technical solutions;
- Determine and implement the technical strategy for IT infrastructure;
- Undertake appropriate certifications for the role and company relevant to the roadmap for IT infrastructure; and
- Support the sales team to deliver on revenue objectives.
- Lead sales strategy discussions with sales teams and business partners.
- Participate and lead sales teams or business partners to obtain customer contractual acceptance of final services/products proposed. Ensures final documentation (engineering diagrams, site surveys, statement of works) are completed to assist all future projects.
- Ensures sold services are completed and operating as designed. See a solution/opportunity from creation to closure.
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, IT and Computer Science;
- 5+ years of presales engineering or systems engineering experience in a systems integrator/reseller company; and
- Certification in VMware, Cisco; Symantec, Oracle and EMC Certifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications, to include complex routing techniques on LAN/WAN networks, IP Telephony/Unified Communications, Security and network diversity applications.
- Knowledge of Cloud computing and IT managed services.
- Vast experience in Data center server infrastructure, virtualization and automation software.
- Knowledge of Cisco/Oracle/VMware pre-sales configuration tools will be an added advantage
- Understand customer decision making and business processes to include, assisting sales team in developing strategies to influence decision makers.
