Our client, a retail chain superstore, opening up in Addis Ababa Ethiopia seeks to hire the following immediately.

1. Finance Director

Requirements
  • Master degree in the field of economics/business administration
  • 10-15 years of professional work experience, thereof 5 -7 years in corporate finance with strong past exposure to finance & accounting, HR, legal, IT and if possible to quality assurance
  • Exceptional expertise in corporate finance, Ethiopian accounting and legal standards
  • Strong analytical and communications skill-set
  • Determination, decisiveness, accountability as well as self-confidence
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is a plus
  • Native speaker in Amharic(not neccessary) and fluent in English

Organizational Role and Reporting Lines

Reports to: General manager

Supervises: All support function heads (HR, IT, Legal, Finance & Controlling, Quality Assurance)

External Relations: Banks, auditors, ERCA

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for the budget setting process and follows up on actual financial performance versus budget
  • Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, financial model, special analysis and information reports
  • Performs financial analysis to support financial investments • Manages the development and implementation of finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures
  • Analyzes cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide departments and oversees cash management across the stores
  • Oversees support functions, responsible for team building and support function delivery

2. Head of IT

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or higher in computer engineering or computer science or equivalent is required
  • >10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in an IT management position within a large local or multinational company
  • Experience in wholesale/retail/distribution industries
  • Strong experience in IT planning and project management
  • Strong dedication and service orientation, as well as ability to develop simple yet impactful IT solutions
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is a plus
  • Fluent in English, proficiency in Amharic preferred though not necessary

External Relations: IT suppliers (hardware, software) and service providers

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages the development and implementation of an IT strategy that supports the financial and business goals
  • Prepares, secures and manages annual IT budget
  • Identifies, recommends and sources IT architecture, infrastructure and applications to meet business needs
  • Ensures continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance and enhancement of whole IT equipment
  • Ensures required external technical support when issues cannot be resolved in-house

3. Store Operations Head

Requirements
  • At least BS degree preferably in the field of economics/business administration or engineering
  • At least 5-10 years of professional work experience, thereof minimum 3-5 years at senior level in retail/distribution/wholesale/FMCG industry
  • Experience in the management, coordination and execution of operational activities in retail/wholesale/distribution/FMCG
  • Ability to build strong relationships, strong communication skills, entrepreneurial and hands-on attitude
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is a plus
  • Native speaker in Amharic and fluent in English

Supervises: Store operations managers (Regional managers at a later stage)

External relations: Suppliers/Service providers of stores (e.g. in-store equipment / maintenance / service suppliers, construction company)

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops, secures and manages budget for operations function
  • Monitors, manages and reports financial and operational performance of all ETE stores
  • Defines in-store policies and procedures, and monitors their effective implementation
  • Plans and initiates required actions for in-store improvements
  • Leads the operations function and ensures staff are provided with adequate training and development to ensure offering quality
  • Ensures availability of in-store staff and equipment through hiring and sourcing

4. Supply Chain (SC) Head

Requirements
  • BS degree or higher in the field of engineering or any related
  • 10-15 years of professional work experience thereof minimum3-5 years at senior level in retail/wholesale/distribution/ warehouse/FMCG
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures for food categories, development & maintenance of SC infrastructure, and inventory management
  • High attention to detail, ability to solve complex problems and to rigorously execute SC development projects
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is a plus
  • Native speaker in Amharic –not necessarily and fluent in English

  • Manages all logistics activities across the country, including inbound & outbound traffic activities (e.g. custom clearance), warehousing activities (e.g. stock keeping), inventory levels
  • Oversees execution of development & maintenance activities
  • Facilitates interaction with key organizational functions (Merchandise, Store Operations) to optimize the supply chain and minimize inventory
  • Identifies and implements SC improvement measures

5. Head of Stores

Requirements
  • BS degree or higher in the field of engineering or any related
  • 10-15 years of professional work experience thereof minimum 3-5 years at senior level in retail/wholesale/distribution/warehouse/FMCG
  • Demonstrated planning and execution expertise given complex environments for store/warehouse/production facility expansion and/or development projects
  • Strong project management skills and results orientation;
  • Ability to plan, supervise and deliver multiple construction/refurbishment projects
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is a plus
  • Native speaker in Amharic and fluent in English

  • Plans, supervises and executes construction/refurbishment of new store development projects
  • Manages tenders for store building, refurbishments and instore equipment (e.g. shelves)
  • Collaborates on a frequent basis with store operations team to smoothly handover development projects upon finalization

  • Ensures definition and refinement of Sourcing/Merchandising strategy incl. range, sourcing, space planning and pricing
  • Ensures planning and execution of promotional activities, customer acquisition and retention to increase sales
  • Ensures close collaboration with other key functions, such as store operations , store development and supply chain
