Quantities and Estimates Manager

Our client, a construction company need to fill the above position urgently.

Qualification:

Degree in quantity surveying or building economics

Min. 2 yrs post graduate experience

Computer literate with competence in Ms Project, Ms Word, Excel and at least one architectural drawing software (e.g Arch Card)

25 years and above

Job description

Tendering.

This will involve the following:
  • Attending site visits for tenders bought
  • Pricing the Bqs (based on market rates, drawings and site visits attended)
  • Ensuring that the tender is inked correctly according to required approval.
  • Signing-off documents to realize savings:


This will involve the following:
  • Signing-off budget proposals for materials and labour
  • Approving requisitions before purchases are made
  • Confirming quotations before placing invoices to suppliers
  • Advising on best methods of realizing savings on costs
  • Giving cost advice to Finance and Procurement departments
  • Approving labour for subs before payments are made
  • Negotiating with subs on rates and works done for valuation purposes
  • Liaising with the projects Consultants, i.e, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers and Clientele for the following:
  • Project initiation and closure
  • Negotiations on final accounts and certificates
  • Giving guidance to the Directors and managing the management teams
  • Ensure that projects are run with minimum cost overruns
  • Ensure that any cost variances are brought to the attention of the consultants in time and managed appropriately
  • Drafting contractual documentation during project implementation eg. EOTs

Possibility of frequent travels to sites across the country
