All Saints’ Cathedral Church, Nairobi, the Diocesan Cathedral of All Saints’ Cathedral Diocese and the Provincial Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Kenya seek to recruit a person to fill the position of Provost.

The Provost is the Parish Vicar and Chief Executive Officer of the Church which has a large congregation and multiple development and ministry projects.

This is a 5 year contract renewable once.

Reports To: Diocesan Bishop / Archbishop

Location: All Saints Cathedral Church (ASC)

General Purpose of the Job

The Parish Priest who is also the chief executive officer of the Cathedral for providing overall leadership to the Cathedral ministry in articulating and implementing the vision, mission, objectives and entire operations of the Church while maintaining the dignity, heritage and values of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK)

Key Duties / Responsibilities
  • Providing overall leadership to the church in worship, ministry, stewardship of all human and financial resources and in all Cathedral projects and departments
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the ASC strategic plan
  • Capturing and articulating aspirations and dreams of members, staff and the church and give leadership in their refinement, articulation and implementation
  • Maintaining the prophetic voice of the church on national and religious issues in tandem with official ACK positions and in fellowship with the Diocesan Bishop/Archbishop
  • Servicing the leadership and governance organs of the Church and facilitate their role in formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the policies of the church.
  • Providing leadership in reviewing personnel set up, recruiting, supervising and developing staff to enable them give full value to the ministry and ASC operations
  • Representing the ASC within the ACK and all other relevant partners, public and organizations in order to enable the church fulfill its national and international role.
  • Being the overall accounting officer for all matters relating to the church
  • Ensuring targeted and effective service delivery to all sectors and special focus groups
  • Ensuring that all God’s people consistently receive the spiritual nurture they need to enable them mature in faith and serve God as they are called and equipped
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Diocesan Bishop/Archbishop and the Parochial Church Council.

Person Specifications
  • Minimum Qualification and Training: A Master degree from an accredited institution with at least one of the degrees being in theology or divinity coupled with broad leadership and management training and experience.
  • An ordained priest of the Anglican Church and in good standing with the Church as evidenced by an unqualified recommendation by the Bishop owed canonical obedience.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven ability and experience in administrative, human resource management and management of a large church or a Christian organization.
  • A minimum of five years as ordained Anglican priest. A demonstrable experience of working in partnership with other Churches and ministries for purposes of networking
  • Skills; Capacity to understand and comply with internal policies as well as complying with legal and statutory provisions and requirements is a critical competence and must have strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Be proficient in using word processing and spreadsheet computer packages.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Christ Jesus and the word of God and appreciation of the Anglican Church traditions and liturgy.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and a team player with high level of creativity and innovativeness.

Inter-relationships
  • Responsible for representing ASC effectively in situations of major importance to all internal and external relations on behalf of the Archbishop/Diocesan Bishop when called upon.

  • Ensure that all God’s people consistently receive the spiritual nurture they need enable them mature in faith and serve God as they are called equipped.
