Poultry Farm Worker

Location: Mavoko County, an upcoming poultry farm in Mavoko country is looking for a responsible individual to fill in the position of poultry farm personnel.

Job Summary

This is routine manual work in specialized farming activities on a poultry farm.

Work involves performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled poultry related tasks in accordance with specific instructions or a well established routine.

Specialized tasks are also performed in connection with the caring for poultry.

Work is subject to general supervision through inspections and review of results of work.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily feeds, waters, and otherwise cares for poultry;
  • Routine cleans poultry houses, feeders, drinkers, and the compound;
  • Keeps clear records of the following, mortality of chicks, feeding records, egg production records, vaccination records, and other information on poultry;
  • Prepares poultry for vaccinations and assist in vaccination activity;
  • Receives stock, loads and unloads feed and keep records on stocks received and consumption;
  • Collects eggs, and stores eggs in coolers;
  • Maintains proper lighting and heating for poultry houses;
  • Change wood shavings in chicken houses periodically;
  • Prepare the brooder in advance before chicks are delivered;
  • Cleaning and fumigating chicken houses periodically;
  • Inspects poultry for diseases and removes weak, ill, and dead poultry from flock:
  • Performs related work as required.

Education and Experience

Completion of the eight school grade; and varied experience in poultry farm work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Some knowledge of practical farm operations.
  • Some knowledge of the feedings and care of poultry.
  • Some knowledge of the kinds and uses of poultry raising supplies and equipment.
  • Some knowledge on chicken diseases and management.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Hands on experience on kienyeji chicken rearing is an added advantage

Requirements
  • Any Gender - Aged Below 30yrs
  • Certificate in animal husbandry or equivalent
