The University of Nairobi seeks to appoint a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs). A Deputy Vice-Chancellor is a principal assistant to the Vice-Chancellor in the day to day running of the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) under the direction of the Vice-Chancellor shall be the head of the Academic Division of the University whose functions include management of academic matters.

The specific functions for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) shall include Syllabuses and Regulations, Examinations, Postgraduate Affairs and Admissions and will be the Secretary to the Senate.

Further, he/she shall be expected to perform such other duties and functions as may be provided for under Statute IV of the University of Nairobi Charter 2013.

The University continues on a major programme of change and transformation in all its facets of operations.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) shall be expected to play a leading role in this change and transformation process, especially in respect of the management of academic matters.

Applicants should be Professors of the University of Nairobi on permanent and pensionable terms of employment as provided in part 1 of Statute IV of the University of Nairobi Charter 2013.

They should have at least five years of experience at senior management level in a University or in an institution of comparable status.

In addition, they should be persons of high level of integrity with proven management and leadership skills as laid out in Chapter VI on Leadership and Integrity of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Applicants should forward 10 copies of their application letter with a detailed curriculum vitae.

They should provide names and addresses of three referees, and request the referees to forward their reports directly to the undersigned.
