Public Relations Officer Job in Kenya

Pan Africa Christian University, a Chartered Private University, is seeking to fill the position of Public Relations Officer. 

The Applicant must be born again and an active member of a local Church.

Public Relations Officer (1 Post)

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will assist in implementing public relations strategies and plans for the University.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Manage the PR planning process for PACU;
  • Planning for PR and Communication programmes with the Public Relations and marketing committee;
  • Manage the University media list, ensuring it is updated and correct
  • Provide guidance for all PR activities i.e. assist in putting together a press release, a strategy around an event/story, briefing photographers
  • Identify and institute PR training – both internal and external
  • In liaison with the Marketing Officer implement the University PR, marketing and recruitment programme which includes generation of referrals for New students, correspondents with prospective students, high school relations, and outreach activities;
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A Masters Degree in Communication, and a first degree in either Public Relations, Journalism or Communication;
  • At least five years’ public relations experience in a University setting will be an added advantage;
  • Very strong writing and editing skills (press releases, feature articles, opinion editorials);
  • Broad based exposure to all skills areas including presentation,  media relations, advertising, internal communications and CSR;
  • Paid up member to the Public Relations Society of Kenya (please attach certificate).
  • Effective Interpersonal skills and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Desktop Publishing skills will be an added advantage;
  • Understand and adhere to the PACU Statement of Faith.
