Key
Attributes and Responsibilities
Based in Nairobi, The East Africa Partner,
will be responsible for securing and managing the PAHF investment pipeline,
presenting suitable opportunities to the Investment Committee (IC) and driving
superior returns in the portfolio, monitoring investments and finally, exiting
the portfolio in the region.
The candidate must be a private equity
professional in the East African real estate sector.
While the successful candidate might have
limited African affordable to middle income housing sector experience, having a
track record in deal origination and transactions is essential.
The candidate should have the following

Responsibilities
- Driving and delivering on the PAHF Investment Policy in the region – deal flow to execution to exits.
- Building, maintaining and managing a strong investment pipeline and process.
- Achieving the overall profitability targets of the East Africa operations.
- Managing the risk profile of the investment portfolio.
- Preparing and presenting suitable investments to IC.
- Handling all elements of transactions, including: valuations, due diligence, business plans, modeling, deal structuring, legal agreements and exits.
- Driving value jointly with the Fund Partners.
- Recruiting, training, building and mentoring outstanding East African portfolio management and deal teams.
- Assessing and presenting performance of the Fund’s investment and measuring this against set benchmarks on a continuous basis.
Qualifications,
Experience and Skills
Appropriate
tertiary qualifications coupled with:
- Five to ten years’ investment experience (private equity preferred) with a particular focus on property and property development (with a preference for residential experience) in East Africa.
- Experience of managing an extensive regional network of key real estate players, including: developers, landowners, financiers, real estate professionals, etc.
- A successful deal track record within at least two of the target geographies - deep understanding of the unique disciplines of identifying, negotiating, closing and monitoring residential real estate transactions; and
- Capacity to drive the PAHF’s investment strategy and to assume executive responsibilities alongside the Fund Partners.
- Good working knowledge of key commercial statutes and regulations – tax, companies act, property law, etc.
