Camps Executive Housekeeper in The Masai Mara (1 Position)

Description:

Plans, schedules, instructs, supervises, and monitors the day-to-day general housekeeping of the camp facilities; ensures all tents and offices are well maintained and cleaned; ensures all housekeeping equipment remains in proper working order and in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; maintains an inventory of all camp cleaning supplies. 

Leads other housekeepers in the proper methods and procedures for performing housekeeping work; cleans bedrooms, washes, stores and distributes linens; ensures the cleanliness of the camp daily.

Essential Functions:

Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of housekeeping personnel; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SOPs. Reports maintenance problems and repairs to Camp Manager;

Stocks and maintains inventory of all linens, towels, janitorial supplies, etc.; Maintains an adequate and organized inventory of housekeeping supplies; orders needed supplies and materials in accordance with policy; retrieves supplies from the stores and distributes supplies to appropriate departments.

Required Experience:
  • Knowledge of the general principles and practices of housekeeping management;
  • Knowledge of the general principles and practices of effective supervision;
  • Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices as well as proper safety precautions;
  • Ability to maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies;
  • Ability to schedule and assign work to staff in an effective manner;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with camp staff.
Mental and Physical Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate and work with staff who have little or no experience in the housekeeping department and provide necessary instruction
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements;
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Required Education:


Hospitality Degree/Diploma. Three years’ experience performing housekeeping work with at least one year lead worker or supervisory experience preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
