Sales Man
My
client, a start-up venture in the booming building material sector is
recruiting a “Sales Man” to support its business growth, the role is based in
Nairobi.
This
role would involve demonstrating and pitching products to prospective or
current customers, processing purchase orders from customers, preparing sales
order, closing the sale and liaising with despatch team.
We

is an entry-level career position for which we prefer previous successful work
experience in sales.
However,
we will consider exceptional recent college graduates with some relevant work
experience, excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.

Key
responsibilities:
- Effectively
perform the in-store sales life cycle: provide information or demo of the
products concerned, prepare a sales order and close the sale (provide
receipt/ invoice) in a timely basis.
- Provides
information and quotes prices to prospective and current customers in a
timely manner.
- Builds rapport
with prospective and current customers and maintain this relationship.
- Complies with company
policies on pricing, discounting, credit and collections to ensure
profitability.
- Demonstrates
knowledge of products of the organisation.
- Demonstrates
competence in use of proprietary electronic software (i.e. SAP)
- Liaises
effectively with despatch staff to meet the customer service objective of
the company.
- Obtains,
updates, and demonstrates detailed industry, company, competitor, and
product knowledge and passes this information to relevant seniors.
- Works with other
sales representatives, Director of Marketing, and Business Development
Director, under the direction of the Director of Sales.
- Compiles lists
of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
- Makes outbound
lead calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and email to
qualify leads for the Trade Sales Reps.
- Meet or exceed
monthly and quarterly quotas
- Building your
book of business through cold calling, referrals, and renewals
- Represents the
organization at all times in a professional, competent manner, in keeping
with the high ethical and cultural standards of the organization
Desired
Skills & Experience
- KCSE Minimum
Grade Requirements: English B, Maths B
- Diploma/ College
Education/ University Education
- At least 2 years
proven track record in achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual goals in
wholesale sales.
- History of
experience in new business development, lead generation and closing sales.
- Outstanding
verbal communication and telephone skills
- Excellent
interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong
problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to
multi-task and handle pressure in a professional manner
- Ability to
organize and prioritize his/her time
- Self-motivated
and highly reliable
- Strong work
ethic, excellent attendance, and willingness to work long hours.
- Enjoys challenges
and a fast-paced/small office environment
- Ability to
effectively interact and communicate with all levels of employees,
management, vendors.
- Excellent
working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of
and familiarity with the Internet and PCs.
- The ability to
comfortably speak in front of a group of people.
- Knowledge of
building materials is essential but not required.
- Fluency in
English and Kiswahili
