The
Kenya Sugar Research Foundation (KESREF) is a state corporation in the Ministry
of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries with its headquarters at Kibos, off
Kisumu-Miwani Road.
The
Foundation wishes to recruit qualified and experienced individuals to the
following vacant positions:
1. Supply Chain Manager
Job

The
incumbent reports to the Director and the position exists at Kibos Headquarters.
Duties
and responsibilities
- Plan, organize
and coordinate supply chain management activities;
- set performance
targets;
- ensure
compliance with established procurement policies and procedures;
- maintain an
up-to-date database of prequalified suppliers and identify new and
alternative sources;
- develop and
review the supply chain manual;
- assign duties
and responsibilities to Departmental personnel;
- advise
management on the tendering procedures;
- develop and
implement annual procurement plan;
- compile
quarterly and annual reports;
- ensure timely
provision of goods and services to the end users;
- and mentor staff
in the Department;
- secretary to the
tender and disposal committees;
- monitor contract
management by user Departments;
- advise other
Departments and staff on all matters to do with procurement of goods and
services in line with Government procedures.
Job
Requirements
For
appointment to this grade a candidate must have the following:-
- Diploma in
Purchasing and Supplies Management or its equivalent from a recognized
Institution;
- Bachelor degree
in Supply Chain Management or its equivalent from a recognized
institution;
- Fifteen (15)
years relevant experience, three (3) of which must have been in senior
management level in a recognized institution;
- Demonstrated
outstanding professional competence in Supply Chain Management;
- Be a registered
member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management;
- Be of integrity
with good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Have computer
application skills;
2. Research Scientist (Sugar Technology)

The
incumbent reports to the Director and the position exists at Kibos
Headquarters.
Job
Description
The
Research Scientist will be expected to
- initiate and
implement research projects;
- design,
establish and manage trials and surveys;
- Collect, compile
and analyse data from experiments and surveys;
- compile and
generate scientific reports;
- supervise and
manage officers and resources below this cadre;
- plan
intervention measures;
- prepare
scientific and technical reports;
- offer training
and advisory services, prepare and communicate research findings;
- development and
validate diagnostic tools / technologies;

Requirements
For
appointment to this grade a candidate must have the following:-
- Masters Degree
qualifications plus three (3) years demonstrable research experience;
- Demonstrated
ability and shown merit in work performance and results;
- Possess good
communication and interpersonal skills;
- Good analytical
and leadership skills;
- Be result
oriented team player; and
- Computer
application skills
