Accountant

Accountable to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Summary: 

To assist and support the CFO in the implementation of financial policies and ensure financial records are properly maintained to enable timely preperation of financial reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
• More than three years experience in the areas of financial accounting and reporting.
• The desired candidate must be computer literate competent in using at least one or two soft ware accounting packages.
• Experience with accounting packages required. Experience with QuickBooks is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Exel is essential.
• Good command of communication in English language both oral and written as well as interpersonal relationship skills
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervision and guidance and delegation of duties to the Accounts staff under your office.
• Ensure there is proper keeping of Financial records including Vouchers, receipt books, cheque books, bank statements etc.
• Reconciliations : bank, suppliers, debtors, control accounts.
• On monthly basis plan remittance to creditors based on agreed terms of payments.
• Ensure all statutory requirements are met and prepare returns in a timely manner.
• Ensure all assets of the company are properly recorded and are adequately insured.
• Ensure month end close is done and reports prepared within 10 working days .
• Assist in preparation of audit pack with all necessary schedules within one month of year end.

Cost Accountant

Accountable to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Summary: 

To assist and support the CFO in the ensuring that all resources are properly and efficiently utilized; costs properly accounted for and that cost and budget controls are implemented and monitored

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
• More than three years prior supervisory experience in the areas of management accounting.
• Competent in using at least one or two soft ware accounting packages Experience with QuickBooks is an advantage
• Proficiency in Ms Excel is essential
• Good command of communication in English language both oral and written as well as interpersonal relationship skills

Duties and Responsibilities

Administration and Logistics Department Manager

Accountable to: Outgrowers Manager

Qualifications and Experience

BA in human resource management from a recognized university with two years experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Handles administrative and human resource management activities of the outgrowers division;
• Establishes farmers working groups and enhance proper communication;
• Coordinates the procurement and distribution of agricultural inputs;
• Facilitates the availability and reimbursement of loans/credits to farmers;
• Manages and records all material and financial expenses diverted to outgrowers;
• Advises farmers on financing of farm operations (inputs, labour) and on proper utilization of cane money to improve the livelihood of the household;
• Develops/amends policies and procedures related to outgrowers;
• Develops and implements performance monitoring and evaluation system;
• Prepares plans and budget which enable the Division to achieve its goal;

Land Preparation and Cultivation Officers
Accountable to: Agricultural Mechanization Department Manager

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Agricultural Mechanization with two years experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administers, directs and coordinates tillage, cultivation and leveling units;
• Develops annual tractor work scheme;
• Establishes reviews and controls the full application of performance standards for mechanical (cultivation and tillage) works;
• Monitors and evaluates machine performances and taking actions on identified deviations;
• Coordinates and undertakes bush clearing and tillage works;
• Ensures collection, recording, maintaining and reporting of data pertaining to machinery performance, productivity and cost;
• Prepares and reports periodic activity and factual reports.

Agricultural Extension Officers

Accountable to: Agricultural Extension Department Manager

Qualifications and Experience

Dip. In agriculture or related field with two years experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates the distribution of agricultural inputs;
• Coordinates and facilitates logistical and technical support for land development, seedbed preparation, cane cultivation, harvesting, loading and transporting;
• Offers technical support and advisory servicesto farmers ;
• Offers and organizes trainings, workshops, field days, visits;
• Prepares planting and harvesting schedules jointly with the Nucleus estate agricultural operations management;
• Facilitates and participates in undertakings of on-farm research;
• Inspects and suggests corrective measures on quality of cane production operations;

Qualifications and Experience

Degree with two years experience or Dip. with four years experience in accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To ensure that payments are made on due dates, accurately and to the correct beneficiary.
• To ensure all farmers accounts are maintained correctly and on time
• To ensure customer service to farmers is done promptly and efficiently
• To ensure proper storage and custody of documents
• To ensure administration of discipline in the section
• To ensure accountability of staff working in out growers accounts section
• To ensure timely production of the Outgrowers ledger.
• To ensure prompt payments to farmers and contractors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates, small repair, medium repair and overhaul activities of the section.
• Develops and proposes (schedules) for maintenance of machineries on their emergency and priority requirement.
• Undertakes the daily maintenance of Grader, excavators, crawlers and equipments.
• Prepares and proposes work instruction for the use of maintenance crew.
• Prepares and submits periodic activity and factual reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates 150hp- 200hp Grader, checks, oil, fuel and coolant to the correct level.

• Roughly grades bush cleared area of the field
• Spreads evenly the dumped gravel on the road.
• Registers the engine hour of the machine before starting and finishing of the job.

Excavator Operator:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Required to operate the track type excavator
• Uproot trees and refill the area of uprooted tree by soil
• Digs trench to flood channels
• Dig and loads truck
• Registers the engine hour of the machine before starting and finishing of the job.

Dozer operator:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Required to operate dozer
• Pushes soil and fallen trees to sides of the field
• Windrows the fallen tree properly on the side
• Demolishes the moulds
• Registers the engine hour of the machine before starting and finishing of the job.

Backhoe Operator:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate the backhoe
• Uproot trees and refill the area of uprooted tree by soil

• Load on the truck properly
