Volunteering Opportunity in Kenya

About JAF

The Jahwar Amber Fund is part of the Unitarian movement that has developed worldwide as a response to the traditional politics of socialism, liberalism, and conservatism.

Our main tenets are ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self-determination and justice.

We place particular emphasis on gender democracy, meaning social emancipation and equal rights for women and men. We are also committed to equal rights for cultural and ethnic minorities and to the societal and political participation of immigrants. Finally, we promote non-violence and proactive peace policies.

We are a green think tank, a local policy network, and are active in ecology, spiritual democracy and human rights in East Africa with 3 offices across Kenya.

Our Regional Office for Rift Valley and Western Kenya is based in Isinya, District of Kajiado County since 2012.

Jahwar Amber Fund Inc. has 501(c) 3 tax-exempt status in Canada and is registered as a community based organization (CBO) in Kenya. The Canada office helps with fundraising.

Volunteership Description

A small army of volunteers is needed to make JAF Festival 2013 happen and ensure the participants have a fantastic time.

It's not just the JAF events that are new for the 2013 program, we are also pleased to introduce "Eventeers" - our scheme to formally recognise our commitment to the people who give their time to support us through volunteering.

Whether you're volunteering on behalf of one of our partner charities, a group or organisation or simply for yourself, The JAF Festival Team will be very grateful for your support and so will thousands of participants.

Who can volunteer?

Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us, the only recommendation we make is that volunteers are aged over 16 to volunteer independently (14 and 15 year olds can volunteer with a  supervising parent / guardian).

What roles are available?

Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles including: -
  • Registration Marshals
  • Coordination Marshals
  • Food Station Marshals
  • Exhibition Stalls Marshals
  • Festival Office
You just need lots of enthusiasm and a proactive attitude, excellent communications skills and to enjoy working as part of a team and you can help ensure a positive experience for our thousands of runners.

Benefits of volunteering?
  • Meeting new people
  • Helping local and national charities
  • Supporting and improving the experience of our thousands of participants
Refreshments will be provided during your shift and in addition to a huge thank you from The JAF Festival Team, all volunteers will receive an electronic certificate of appreciation after the event. A reward and recognition document will also follow shortly as part of our "Eventeers" scheme.
