Program Manager Job in Kilgoris, Kenya

Kakenya Center for Excellence (KCE) was founded in 2008 with a mission to empower and motivate girls through education to become agents of change and to break the cycle of destructive cultural practices in Kenya such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced early marriage.

Program Manager
 

Purpose of the Position

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of all activities in accordance with KCE projects. 

This position reports to the Executive Director.

The Project Manager will closely with Executive Director, staff and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Programmatic:
  • Plan and coordinate health and leadership trainings
  • Work with a network of local change makers - plan joint events
  • Manage needs of orphans and needy students supported by KCE at Enkakenya and other schools
  • Coordinate field trips for Enkakenya students
  • Work with English teachers at Enkakenya Center to plan spelling bee competitions each term
  • Coordinate visits from volunteer groups and short-term fellows
  • Assist with Seeds to Sew Enkisoma and Enkiteng programs as needed
Communications:
  • Establish and update a digital photo library for the organization and regularly update it with pictures of activities of programs in Enoosaen
  • Produce frequent updates about programs in Enoosaen
Administrative:
  • Financial management – file receipts and track organizational expenses on Excel
  • Work with local board – attend meetings, take minutes, and contribute to program planning
Required Skills &Qualifications
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) and the ability to type
  • Willingness to relocate to Enoosaen or its environs
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Good interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and passionate about girls’ empowerment and education
Position type: Full time starting July 2013
