Conveyancing and Commercial Litigation Advocate Job in Kenya

Our client, a law firm, is looking to recruit an advocate with experience in conveyancing and commercial litigation.

Job specifications:

  • Offer advice to clients on the legal processes involved in purchasing and selling property.
  • Work to protect the interest of clients and ensures they are protected against fraud and money laundering activities.
  • Conduct research to identify legal ownership of properties by assessing government land registry documents or title deeds if the land is not registered to anyone.
  • Visit local authority planning offices to check for any plans etc
  • Speak to mortgage lenders, estate agents, solicitors and clients
  • Prepare property lease agreements and ensure contracts are signed on the scheduled date of transfer.
  • Prepare fee notes for clients
  • Manage litigation records and the bring up system
  • Carry out research on legal issues
  • Collate documents and any evidence, identify and prepare witnesses in support of cases
Minimum Requirements:
  • Have a bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university;
  • Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Certificate of Admission to the Roll of Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
  • Good communication, presentation, research and analysis skills
  • At least 2 years post admission work experience in a busy law firm
  • Knowledge of Conveyancing, court rules, civil and criminal procedures, land and company registry procedures;
  • Must have hands on experience in interpretation and application of legal texts, statutes, rules and regulations
  • Should be proactive, self motivated and aggressive
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organization skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and work within minimum or no supervision
  • Must be computer literate
