veterinary care is often insufficiently available. When farmers lose their
herds to disease, drought or conflict, they lose everything: their pride, their
culture, their savings and their livelihood.
By
helping to care for livestock and improve production, the NGO Vétérinaires Sans
Frontières Belgium supports local populations in their struggle against hunger
and poverty.
In
East Africa, our programs focus on livestock dependent communities in Kenya,
Uganda and South-Sudan.
Role
Role
The
role of the Regional Director for East-Africa is to develop and implement the
strategy for East-Africa in line with the mission, vision, values and global
strategy of VSF-BELGIUM.
He/she reports to the General Director.

is a member of the Management Team of VSF-BELGIUM.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Develop the
regional strategy and program within the VSF-BELGIUM framework and
contribute to the development of the overall strategy of VSF-BELGIUM,
incl. identification and development of strategic partnerships
- To implement the
3 year regional strategy and defining subsequent annual plans (plans
should include budget, HR components, and SMART indicators allowing
appropriate monitoring), ensuring that RON activities are within VSFB
strategic plan;
- To monitor the
quality of regional program in the region
- To develop a
professional technical Regional support unit, so that county offices
receive the monitoring and guidance that is needed
- To develop
effectiveness of RON and field staff through coaching, monitoring, staff
performance management, M&E of field activities
- To ensure that
VSFB complies with donor’s requirements
- To ensure that
the agreed amount of co-financing funds for the programs in the region is
secured, taking into account global needs of VSF-BELGIUM for
co-financing
- To represent and
promote VSF-BELGIUM in the region, incl. advocate the interests of
VSF-BELGIUM and its stakeholders with decision makers in the region
- To ensure
knowledge/expertise is capitalized within the region and shared with teams
across VSF-BELGIUM To oversee the regional office in Nairobi
Profile
Education
- Relevant
advanced university degree
- Knowledge and
experience
- At least 3 years
of experience in a senior management position
- Experience in
strategic planning and organisational change management
- At least 8 years
of experience in the development and humanitarian aid in Africa and in
pastoral and agro-pastoral areas
- Experience in
managing multidisciplinary teams
- Fluent in
English
- Basic knowledge
of French is a plus
- Existing network
within NGO-donor community in East-Africa would be an added advantage
Experience in Project Cycle Management and Result Based Approach
- Experience in
proposal writing with major donors
