Programme Development & Grants Manager – Kenya
DRC
seeks to protect refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) on the basis
of humanitarian principles and human rights in general and to promote long term
solutions to the problems of forced displacement.
DRC
is recruiting a Programme Development & Grants Manager to take a lead role
in development of new programmes and provide managerial oversight of all the
grants.
Responsibilities:
Compliance and Grants Management
- Develop and
submit quality proposals and concept papers in line with donor
requirements
- Maintain and
inform internal procedures, systems and tools to facilitate DRC meeting
contractual obligations to donors
- Lead in project
planning and facilitation of programme kick-off workshops for all new
projects.
- Plan and execute
quarterly and annual review sessions and oversee implementation of
corrective measures.
- Liaise with
programme managers to ensure proper budget management and donor
compliance.
- Track grant
income by ensuring that all allocated finances are acquitted in a timely
manner
- Implement proper
budget monitoring and uphold the highest level of organizational
governance
- Responsible for
quality control of all DRC Kenya projects and proper management of
subgrantees.
- Facilitate
development of appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems for all
programmes.
- Manage the
online DRC Grants Management System (GMS) in liaison with the Regional
Grants Manager
Strategic
Programme Development
- Lead in
development of proposals for new programmes and refinement of the Country
Strategic
- Programme
Documents
- Ensure
cross-cutting themes e.g. gender; age, gender & diversity (AGD);
protection etc are main streamed in all programmes.
- Represent the
organization in strategic meetings with donors and other partners
Programme
Management
- Provide
managerial leadership for the implementation of a USAID funded project on
conflict management in Northern Kenya and DRC projects in Nairobi.
Qualifications,
Experience & Skills Required:
- Advanced degree
in social sciences or related areas from a recognized University
- Minimum 5 years’
experience in fundraising, grant management, proposal writing in an NGO
setting
- Demonstrated
experience working with International NGO’s, UN agencies, Ministries
and/or local authorities
- Proven
analytical, writing and advocacy skills
- Knowledge of
donor guidelines and reporting systems is an added advantage
- Excellent
inter-personal skills with diverse audiences.
- Experience
working with several donors including ECHO, USAID, UNHCR, DFID& DANIDA
highly desirable.
Conditions:
Contract: Please note that the above position is on a 1-year contract with possibility of extension.
